........with each other? every single parts store in my area sucks! they keep giving my halfshafts for a fwd 2g. I came across a 1g awd manual tranny halfshaft but it looks to short. I need to know if the awd (passenger side) shaft is is the same between the 1g's and 2g's. the diameter is the same except for the length. thanks.

no they are not interchangable the 1g passenger halfshaft is 1in too short. and the shafts for a 2g are the same as far as cars w/abs and those w/o abs w/manual tranny.
btw autozone, carquest, murreys, and napa are not able to order passenger side halfshafts for 2g's with manual tranny. not sure about the driver side
thanks for the help from all of you.

Huh? Are you talking AWD or FWD? I know you can order them for an M5 FWD. I did...3 times (my car was eating outer CV boots).

Also, the splines are different between 1G and 2G.

1g and 2g awd splines are the same, the shaft is just an inch shorter. its the fwd that has a different spline because the diameter of the shaft is bigger. read the first post I say it is an awd. 2g awd and 1g awd shafts are not the same the 1g awd shafts are shorter.

Interesting. I just read a thread today about a guy who put a 2G trans in his 1G and the length and spline dia was wrong. I didn't catch if it was AWD or FWD though.

it was more than likely a fwd to awd or vice versa swap. in the 1g's the spline count and diameter was the same but was changed probably in 93-94 not sure though. mitsu went from the same diameter shaft on both fwd and awd cars to a beefier front shaft on fwd turbo models
