Do I have to remove the DP for a clutch install? 1G

I am following the VFaq http://www.vfaq.com/mods/clutch-1G.html
And the downpipe is next to imposible to get off. Looking at it, I don't think I have to take it off to continue.
Anyone know for sure?

It's kind of hard taking the transfer case and the cross brace off with the downpipe in the way.

I guess i'll try it. The dp is rusted on pretty solid.

It will be hard to disconnect it at the converter, all those years on the stock exhaust gives it some time to rust up. Try to disconnect it at the o2 housing then drop the whole exhaust as one. That is a lot easier considering to remove the rest of the exhaust all you have to do is pull off rubber hangers.
