Rear Wheels Locking

Thanks Ahead of time to anyone that answers. I just installed a JDM engine and tranny combo in my 91' AWD, everything went fine but when I tried to take it out for the first time, The car was draging the rear wheels? I checked brakes, e-brake,fluid levels, and I cant figure it out . The t-case had some shavings at the plug but not much, and I thought if the t-case was locked up then all four wheels would lock. I put the rear wheels on stands and turned them by hand and they span fine. If its the center diff, I have an extra, but before I do that If anyone has another suggestion please let me know. Thanks again.

From what I understand The JDM tranny has different ratios than the american tranny and could be causing your TC to lock up. Check into that.

i bought the engine and tranny combo with a transfer case and it ran fine for about two weeks, till one day i was cruising about 60 on the freeway and my rear wheels just locked up. i did the same thing you did by spinning the wheels but they didnt lock. so i took the tranny to a shop to check it out. basically, it was the center diff that no longer had a couple teeth. so i scrapped that tranny and rebuilt the original one. good luck, hope this helps

Thanks very much for the responses. I discovered two hairline cracks on the input shaft of the transfer case, they dont look big enough to cause a skip but I'll put the original tranny on first before I buy a new transfer case.
