My SHEP Tranny Update

Well as some of you may know, i sent my tranny in to SHEP from my car. Ok so my car is a 1990 with 60k on it. shep called me today and said the tranny is out of a '91 . So thanks to the moron before me he didnt change the shifter so that the '91 tranny could work with the '90 shifter. Shep said my tranny had pieces of gears laying on the bottom. WTF. My tranny is so bad, there's no core charge, the end cases have holes in them. I will buying a built '92 tranny from shep for 1800. what do i need to do to make this work in my car. shep said i could change the shifter in my car to lets say a '92. What all do i need to do, change cables. I was planning on putting in a fidanza short shifter and metal bushings. Any help is more than appreciated.

I'm not 100% sure, but someone else can can correct me if I'm wrong. In order to install the 92' transmission, you'll need to swap out your shifter linkage and shifter cables with a later model first gen. I think the 90's were the only different 1G, so a shifter assembly and shifter cables out of a 91-94 should work. Not sure, but the shifter assembly out of a Non-turbo 91-94 might even be the same. This would be a good opportunity to change to metal bushings too.
