I did a search but couldnt find a answer so here is my question

Ok my gf loves the 2g and currently she drives my 90gst. so i can buy a 95 for 500 bucks. but its missing the engine and tranny so. " can i use the 90 tranny in a 2g?" and if so what is needed to make this work. my main concern is the front motormount on the 2g not lineing up with the 1g tranny both of these are gst's btw

im not a noob if you dont have something useful to post dont bother posting.

THANKS!!

diff axels - diff knuckles - diff suspention there is alot more to it than you are thinking of.

I dont think it will work. On a 2G the tranny has three of the four motor mounts. On a 1G the block has three of the four mounts. I will have to look at them in person again before I can give a definite answer, but I am sure they will not interchange. Plus if you swap in a 90 you have to swap all the brackets for the shifter, the shifter, and the cables, because they are all 90 only parts.

well the guy im buying the 2g shell from his brother or something has a 95 talon that has a jdm gvr4 6bolt and tranny in. his car is laid up for a while so makeing the mounts wouldnt be hard at all i can just pull his and copy them.

the only mounts i think that will have a problem is the front and rear mounts. the drivers side and passanger side mounts should be the same. I i need to find out but if anyone knows the length of the 1g and 2g axels that will deturmine if we can use 1g axels or not.

and what is so diffrent about the 90 tranny side shifterlinkage. looks the same as every other linkage ive looked at?

I would say to look and make sure that they will work. Alot of people "have a friend that know this guy that put a bigblock in a go kart," then they have never seen it or you get there and the big blck is just a normal go kart motor. I would actually go and look before hoping.

The 90 may look the same but all the demensions are different. I know for sure that if you use a 90 tranny you will have to use the shifter and cables from it.

ok i should rephrase it. ive seen the talon. and sure enough it has a solid custom made front motor mount that i saw. and it has a jdm 6bolt in it with a vr4 trany he wont drive it because he says the gear raito is diffrent from the tranny and the rear end but according to http://www.vfaq.com/mods/Trannies.html they are the same, with the exception of 1st gear.

back to my question. who has 1g and 2g axles laying around they can measure and provide proof the length is diffrent?
