I bought a Fidanza alumninuum flywheel for my 1999 GSX. I have heard great things about them, but I have also heard 1 bad thing about them. Is it true that some turbo 4g63 engines develope idle problems after installing these flywheels? I have heard that the engine may die at idle when a light weight flywheel is used. I already know about the possible low RPM lugging problems you may have, ie. not being able to lug the engine around at very low speeds, such as in a parking lot, but that does not bother me, I am just worried about the actual idle problems I may run into. Question 2, when the flywheel needs to be re-ground (Like when my new ACT 2600 clutch finally does go out) I understand that these flywheels can NOT be re ground. So my question is, where can I send the flywheel to have the friction surface replaced? Do I have to send it back th Fidanza, or is this something that a lot of shops can do? Do I need to have the flywheel rebalanced after the insert replacement? And lastly, how much does this cost? Thanks for everyones time. I posted this same question on another DSM site without a single reply, hopefully I'll get a little help over here. Thanks again.

just buy the new surface kit, and have any decent shop install it. Really isn't that complex just needs to be tourqed correctly and most likely threadlocked.

If you bought it brand new, the step-height is the same as the stock OEM flywheel (.612) so it should be ready to use right out of the box. As far as idling problems, i'm having one installed on my FWD laser so i'll get back to you on that one...

Peace Out,
