Shep Racing Tranny ALMOST HERE!

Just wanted to let everyone know that i am about to get my tranny back from Shep Racing! and i cant wait! til i slap on the tranny! i will post pics of the tranny when it comes in! it cost me a little more then expected but my old tranny was really bad and he did what he coold and it fit my budget! I just want to let everyone know if you are looking for a tranny rebuild do some research and call around but my final choice was SHEPHERD RACING! Not only does he have a bad ass Talon! but he wont try to sale you something you dont need! Well if you have a shep tranny post some pics! and how does the tranny feel? I also wanted to post for some tips? i am about to install the tranny my self, is there anything i should to to make the install easier????? i took it off and it was pretty easy! but installing something is 110 times harder ! well take care of your car and remember Even your old lady will give you problems dont ever give up on your DSM! ! and TWO THUMBS UP FOR SHEP RACING!!

don't be sad when it shifts like shit for a little bit, the syrcos have to break in. i would change the transmission fluid after about 1000 miles too.

dont be surprised when the bell housing cracks and the tranny falls off the block. Did on mine 3 times. And the tranny was installed properly.

In fact that is the first neg comment i have ever heard! but you got to look at it like this! not all the tranny will come out perfect! but you can only go from what you hear and you hear nothing but good things from him and his shop? i dont think it was the tranny! i am sure it was the install bec my friend on his 5.0! went trough like 3 tranny unitl he did it right! but i am going to take my chances! i got good warrenty! and cant beat that! that sucks your tranny went bad? did he fix the tranny? after it went bad? and when installing my tranny i am going to take my time! and go off guides of the net! all i need to take care of is my Motor mounts! but iam glad i went with Shep! racing!

Thanks for the tip! i will change out fluid after 1000 miles! i am going to go with syncro mesh fluid! well when i get the tranny in! i will post pics! he told me it looks good! and is going to kick some ass! ive done my fair share of tranny installs. I could change a tranny faster than you could probably change your oil. They were indeed installed correctly. Like all performance parts, nothing comes with a warranty. Shep didn't fix it. I did. The bell housing cracked at one of the mounting points and the tranny literally dropped off the block with only a bolt or two holding it on. So i pulled the tranny out and tig welded it. So i drove to tacobell and pulled in a parking space and BAM! The tranny cracked again in a different spot. Pulled it that night, welded it back together and its been fine since. Tranny shifts fine, I wont doubt that. The theory on this is maybe the way the tranny is hot tanked or cleaned or however he does it, may weaken the bell housing, it is a very weak metal to begin with. Search around, its happen to a lot of people, they just dont post everything on tuners. I'm sure you'll have no problem with your tranny like many others. IMO, if I had someone build me a tranny, it would be Josh Jones at a much cheaper price.

My screename was made up when I first bought my dsm which was broken at the time. Paid 500 bucks for it and all it needed was a slave cylinder cuz the owner thought it had a bad tranny. Car had 90k miles, new engine, leather interior, and it was bone stock.

you blame him for a crappy bellhousing?? I cracked one of mine too, guess what, the trannies suck.

shep does great work, i honestly believe you had something to do with the bell housing.
or maybe ups droped it and it cracked.. very slight chance of john shepard ####ing up a transmission

If you dished out 2k for a tranny, you bet your ass you would be saying that it is the best in the world. Just because you paid more for a tranny then you did all your performance parts combined, doesn't make it the best thing since sliced bread. How can you say there is a slight chance that shep screwed it up? Out of all my friends who had shep trannies, they all leaked, had cracks somewhere, or broke within a few hundred miles and I had to take it apart and fix it.

I could replace synchros and put cool aftermarket parts in for you, doesn't take a rocket scientist.

yep .. rebuilding a trans is simple, but how is shep to blame for your cracked bellhousing? Maybe he sprayed it with some of his " weaken our shitty tranny casing spray " all over your bellhousing and that's why it broke???? Maybe you just dropped it or ups dropped it? Or maybe shep threw it out of a 10 story window on accident?
