ive got a 90 fwd mitsu and im about to purchase a 90 awd eagle with no engine real cheap so i can upgrade to awd. So heres the questions!

1. Can I swap the engine out of my fwd gs turbo to the awd tranny?

2. The car does not have a LSD in the rear so does that mean that its a 3 bolt?

3. Can I buy a center section of the same design and swap? IE 3 bolt w/o lsd 3 bolt with lsd swap

4. This is probably redundant but are the 4 bolts the only diffs with lsd? What years have them?

Well I know the motor will swap over. Yes it is a 3 bolt rear end. I do not know anything about the LSD though.

Your motor will fit but you will need an AWD spacer plate (goes between engine and trans), AWD flywheel, AWD starter, and AWD dust shield. You should also take a tap to the two bolt holes in the back of the block that the jackshaft bolts to on an AWD to make sure they are clean and you will not have a hard time threading your bolts in there that hold the equal length halfshaft.

As far as rear ends are concerned, the car does not have posi if it does not have an orange sticker in the drivers side door jam. The posi and non-posi carrier can be swapped out easily but the axles may (or may not) be different. Also, there were LSD 3 bolts, open 3 bolts, and I believe both variants for 4 bolt cars too although all 5 speed 4 bolt cars had LSD and all A/T cars did not. The 4 bolt you are looking for came in LATE 92-94 M/T DSMs

1. yes with some minor work

2. LSD and bolt pattern have no relation. A 1990 would not have a 4 bolt.

3. Varies.. some fit up some dont.

4. no. 1g from 92-94

The awd spacer plate, flywheel and dust shield were different but the starter works fine. Another interestig thing was the awd clutch slave cylinder(the one on the transmission) didnt fit it wouldnt clear the engine mount. Just thought id add that incase someone else decided to do this.
