When I bought the car previous owner said it had a new clutch.. I have allways had to push the pedal all the way down hard for it to shift without grinding.. However recently it's been getting harder and harder to shift especially when downshifting. Or at a slow roll trying to get it into 1st.. I doesnt feel like its the clutch to me, it feels more like the clutch isnt fully disengaging when the pedal is pushed down..I brought it to the dealer for an adjustment, but they told me there isnt any adujustment because its a hydrolic clutch, and I needed a new clutch 1200.00. Ouch. I trust the guy I bought it from, my neighbor. and he did all the work himself so no records. Please any advice on what to do next would be appreciated..

wow two things, the dealer is a ####in idiot, it can be adjusted, bring it back and show them where it can be adjusted at the master, then laugh at there 1200 dollar quote and walk away.

Ok dealer says the adjustment I showed him is a pedal adjustment not a clutch adjustment. Took the car to clutch mart and the master cylinder was leaking, which sucks because I just put one in less than a year ago.. So I had that done and now I'm going to have a act 2100 put in on thursday for 368.00. I supply the parts.. or 650.00 and they supply the parts.. they use daikn.. I did'nt know anything about them so I opted for suppling my own.. Clutch mart said my clutch was on it's way out.. funny thing is I cant tell anything is wrong besides the fact I have to shove the clutch pedal through the fire wall to get it to engage all the way.. If my floor mat gets in the way forget it.. Had to take it out.. Do you think I'm jumping the gun on the new clutch or should I see if I can have this guy adjust it with Defients instructions.... Thanks again for the help

LOL

did a mechanic tell you that is was not adjustable?
the pedal throw adjust's the clutch thats how its done.

that clutch is fine..... they just want your money

get a new mastercylinder since that one is leaky if infact it is leaky (can you see the leak?)

and adjust your clutch.

Yea I can see and feel fluid right around the boot.. I jumped the gun on the new clutch.. Prostreet allready shipped it out, I'll get it today.. 25% restocking fee.. Anyone need a act 2100 hehe. Ok just talked to Nick Lagusis at Walnut Creek Chrysler Jeep.. He looked at the clutch adjustment instructions I printed from here Defients link.. He still insists there is no such thing as a clutch adjustment for a hydrolic clutch.. It's all done automaticly as the clutch wears. The closer to the floor the clucth pedal gets the more your clutch is worn..until finally your clutch is gone... Humm I am so tired of this bs from this guy. Who allready charged me 70.00 to tell me there is no adjustment for my clutch..
Please any other ideas, I'm very frustrated right now....

Yeh. Okay, it's not a clutch adjustment, but you're adjusting where the pedal holds the master cylinder piston when released. WHICH IS THE SAME THING

Hang onto that clutch, you'll need it eventually.

Replacing the master cylinder should fix it. If you still have problems after that check the clutch pedal assembly itself, it could be getting worn out if it hasn't been welded already. Might want to also check the slave cylinder. Don't bother listening to that dealer anymore, he is either trying to rip you off or he just doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground. Take Defiants advice and keep that clutch because your going to need it sometime down the road.

The guy you are talking to is a complete moron.
"(Nick Lagusis at Walnut Creek Chrysler Jeep..)"

do not let him work on your car.
and never go back there if they let people like that work there.
