pennzoil gearplus?

I want to change my tranny fluid, but it is seriously impossible to find Pennzoil Synchromesh where I'm at. I've tried autozone, walmart, Pep Boys, and a private shop. The only place I have not gone is the dealership. I saw Pennzoil Gear Plus at Autozone and was wondering if it would work okay. Here's the link to it...

I know it's probably not as good as synchromesh but everytime I ask for synchromesh I get looked at like I'm speaking another language....

Well, it won't HURT it. The PDF file states that it is 'Yellow Metal Safe'.

I have never used it, nor know of anyone who has. Therefore, I cannot give you an opinion on it performance wise.

i had the same problem,noone but the dealer carry's pennzoil,but i found that napa carry's quaker state synchromesh fluis it's about 6 bux a bottle,i havn't heard of anyone using it but myself and over the last couple days my shifting has improved so i feel it's a good product,i use to have to really push to get into first and second when downshifting now it slides in alittle better with less force.Peace!

pretty sure it's the same thing as Pennzoil and GM Syncromesh

None of the parts stores around me carried Pennzoil Syncromesh either. What I ended up having to do was go to a GM dealer and get the GM Syncromesh, which is the same thing. They wanted more, though, 9 bucks a quart.

Do you have an O'Reilly Auto Parts? That was the only place in town that I could find it.

From what you have posted, it looks OK.

The key is the “Yellow Metal” since we have “brass syncos”.

So……make sure you get the “GL-4” spec.

That is the one formulated for the “yellow metal”. Just read the bottle carefully.
