I have a 2g gs-t trans in a 93 eagle talon , but there's one problem the axles don't fit , the spline works but the play is to much for comfort ( really sloppy near the seals ) for the 1g axles, would i be able to stick 2g gs-t axles in place of the stock 1g axles. Or would i have to get custom ones madeup? :talon:

since no one has stepped up to the plate , i decided to try a set of axles for a 2g gs-t from a junk yard and they could work but just not so well as i thought , just posting it ,if any one else wants to run this setup. The axles are too long to work in the car , it would be a direct fit if it were about an inch and a half shorter the axle bottoms out and suspension binds , so back to the drawing board. I'll try to see if the stock tsi axle will work i should have thought of this before.

Hmm, I may have some insight into this, even though my situation wasn't quite the same as you describe. Anyway, I have a '93 TSi. Several years ago it developed a torn/leaking CV boot and started "clicking" on one side, so I bought a set of reman'd axles from AutoZone. Guess what? The splines didn't fit right at the inner end and it was too loose. Clearly it was going to leak if I tried to use them. Also, the axles shafts themselves were not as robust as the originals.

In the end, we called Raxles (1-888-257-8192) in Florida and ordered just the correct CV joints. We mounted these on the original axles and they have worked perfectly for over 3 years. The guy we talked to at Raxles said that there were 3 manual trans used in '93, and that we had the weird one...go figure! Anyway, the point here is that you may be able to combine different combos of stock parts to built a good set of axles. It's certainly worth the time to investigate before having a custom set of axles made.

Good luck!

My 94 Tranny Actually has a 95 up diff i can use the long axle (drivers) I have to take and axle from a 92 and frankinstein one together i use the tranny spline side from the 2g and the shaft and wheel hub spline from the 92 kinda weird but it works

the spline count on mines is 27 spline :talon:

Yes, that's exactly the kind of "franken-axle" I had in mind for 4g63forlife. I'll bet he can just combine stock inner spline/CV, axle shaft, and outer spline/cv to get a good axle, without having to have a custom axle made.

Good luck, 'bro! Let us know how it goes. As time goes by more and more of us will face this choice as we keep our cars on the road, and we'll need to know how to do this.

yeah , thanks guys i'll give it a try, but on a funny note i asked a guy a the mitu parts dept. about it and he just kept saying "why are you doing this again ?" and "wait ,wait you put a '95 gs-t trans in to a '93 ?" , and he just kept going in a repeated cycle as we looked at the axles and trans numbers to see what could possibliy fit. Good stuff i love driving people nuts.

I finally got around to getting the axles apart and trans side of the cv joint('95) will work , direct fit (on the '93) :talon: , i'm gonna put them in this weekend after i get the other side done i'll keep you guys up dated. :thumb:

Yep the mix 'n match axles work with the 2g out put at the trans side and the rest a '93 axle. Although it was pretty expensive i'm gonna keep the '93 axle ends for core exchanges later on that should keep the price down , overall i guess. Thanks once again for your help guys.

Actually ran into a bit of a problem with the trans the 1g trans mount won't work with a 2g trans and a 2g trans mount won't work in a 1g chassis so i'm gonna have to make a trans mount one of these days , so three outta four shouldn't be to bad if i don't beat on it to much, right ?? :sneaky:
