so i did what everyone said and got some syncroshift and now i gotta change it. besides drain and refill, is there anything special i need to do when i change the type of fluid in the case?
thanks, Adam

There is a tiny chance that the emulsifiers in different brands could be incompatible, but the liklihood is so remote and the amounts involved are so minor that it should be no problem.

I just got mine back from the shop, and they put in "normal" gear oil. My god, the difference is horrifying. Synchromesh first thing, this weekend.

You'll love it.

Ick, sounds awful, Defiant. In that case I would recomend you jack up one corner at a time to tilt the car and get as much of the old oil out as you possibly can. When I do it that way I usually get a few more ounces out of it.
