OK, Well now that hot weather has hit and any day over 60 degrees I grind going into 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and R gears.. I need a new tranny ASAP. I found one but it says "AWD TRANNY W/ LOCKED DIFF" I talked to the guy and he is real nice and helpful and all that. He kind of explained to me what it does and how to remedy it but I just want second hand opinions. How does it even get locked in the first place? He said to get a vicous coupling eliminator or somethin like that....I dont know, i'm pretty much clueless. ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED! Thanks!

I can't find anything that deals with a locked diff. Is this bad then since you made me search for broken axle? Please help asap I need to let guy know if I'm buying it or not....

It's not going to break axles any more than any other setup.

A VC Eliminator replaces the viscous coupler with a part that locks the car in 4x4 mode all the time. This means that you always have half the power going to the rear, and half going to the front (unless one end is disconnected, such as for dynoing). This also means that the car is going to chatter going around corners.

Thanks....now my next question...is there anything I can swap over from my current tranny that will elminate this or do i have to buy a VC Eliminator??

you could replace the vc to get it to act like a normal tranny. With a locked drive train it puts alot of stress on the rear axels. If you have a 3 bolt its not a very good idea. I went to 2 rear axles when my car was with a welded center diff. I woudln't recomend it on a daily driver. just my .02
