how hard is this, what parts do i need, and how do i do it.

I have the manuals but the master clutch is like a place to put liquid

If this should be in the newbie section(since it is a newbie posts) mods you can move it, but its strictly tranny, so i figured i'd put it here.

You mean the master cylinder?

That thing's a bi***, but can be relatively easy to replace.

I took off that main line on the back of the intake manifold for easier room. Take an open-end 10mm wrench and detach the hydro. line (tight as f**k). Then take a 10 (or 12) mm ratchet with an extension and remove the two bolts holding the cylinder to the wall.

NOW! Here comes the hard as sh!t part. Not really hard, but very annoying. You have to go inside the car, and find the cotter pin that holds the pin in place connecting the clutch pedal to the master cylinder. It's located above and to the front of the car of a giant spring closest to the center console area. It's a b!tch to remove. After you get the pin out, you can just pull out the master cylinder and clean/replace it etc. etc.

Of course, installation is the opposite of removal. I'd suggest prolly taking the cotter pin out first, so when you detach the hydro. line later, you don't drip to much fluid around.

Also, don't forget to have a buddy help you bleed the cylinder after you reinstall it, by bleeding it at the release valve down by the slave cylinder (underneath the car) until normal pressure comes back, and all air is gone. It can take a while. While doing this, keep an eye on the master cylinder fluid level, and refill it if it gets half empty to prevent air from re-entering the line again.

if the oil in it is clean, and it doesn't leak, does it need to be replaced?
