Does anyone have the TRE-Spec tranny the awd one modified for use in fwd? Are they really that much better than getting my fwd tranny rebuilt? They say the gear ratios(1-4) are shorter, so will that give noticeable improvement in accleration? My tranny needs rebuilt and shep said he cant do double second gear syncros in 1990 trannys. All suggestions are welcomed.

That's a surprise. I know TRE can do this. I'm driving a double syncroed 90 tranny.

Thats what I thought. I think you only have to upgrade the output shaft, but I think shep would be able to if it were this easy.

I also called shep about my tranny being rebuilt and his words "I'm not able to upgrade the 90 tranny without it being more of a cost to you" 895 upgrade to 1300 just for the 90 tranny's. I'm ordering the tre tranny next week. If you can talk to tre about the video of thier fwd drive with the same trans.

Here's what you can expect for changes in the gear ratios from FWD to AWD.

First gear is lower. You'll get more wheelspin and reach the top of the gear earlier.
The jump from first to second is greater, so the rpm's will drop more when you do the 1>2 shift. 2nd gear is similar between FWD and AWD.
The 2>3 shift is similar to the FWD ratio.
3>4 is a tighter jump. There will be less drop in rpms during this shift.
4th gear in AWD is slightly shorter than 4th in FWD.
