I was told that if I buy Steel EVO III shift forks I have to use the HD gear set also? I need to get my tranny fixed and was about to plop down the green but I was told that " if you buy the steel shift forks you should use the HD gear set also". Will the steel shift forks jack up my stock gear sets? I need answers quickly cause my loan will come in Monday and I need the ball to roll.

Anyone?

Thanks

Just curious but what is the problem with the stock shift forks?? I didnt really think they had much effect on the way it felt/performed...but I guess Im wrong. Shed some light to me please.

And if theres any of you with built trannies by TRE or anywhere else, how do you like them. How do they perfrom on the street for everyday driving and versus the stock tranny?? THanks

The stock forks are cast Aluminum. If enough force is applied, they will break. EVO forks are cast from steel. TRE modifies theirs with brass inserts. They are much stronger.

I built my tranny myself, but it has TRE EVO forks, TRE spool and VC eliminator. It works fine on the street. The spool is noticeable at low speeds in parking lots, or in the rain! The forks don't make it shift different, except that I'm not afraid of breaking them.

replace them with something stronger cuz they break. that's why. mine snapped going into 3rd and almost left me stranded. trust me its no fun trying to slip a 5 puck clutch from a dead stop with the car locked in third gear.

Sorry. trying to answer too many tranny questions at one time (explaining to people her about my trans and answering people in email about different crap for our trans). I meant 90-92.5. They come with the stronger 3rd/4th gears.

Which EVO forks did you get? TRE with the bronze inserts or just the normals with the cermaic pads?

TRE's.

For the money...? Cast is cast...Steel or aluminum even if it's cast still isn't going to be a whole lot stronger because of the process. Do they make milled shift forks? Hell even milled aluminum would be stronger than the "cast" steel shift forks would they not?

Negative. According to Jon at TRE the Steel EVO forks are the strongest. That's what he recomended to me above the Billet Aluminum forks.
