Ok I have my tranney out so I could do the B&M tranny insert mod.The whole thing went in fine no problems. But the directions i got off VFAQ left me wondering a few things:

1.) When re-assemblying the transmision do I need to reseal the whole thing back together as it was when I took it apart?

2.) Now this is the big one, when I disambled the thing one of the gears fell out no big deal it only went back in one way. However it knocked the back plastic part over and I can't find out where it goes.Maybe I am just dumb but I can't figure it out does any one have a picture or could draw me a picture I don't care on where to put the thing? Also what the hell is that thing anyways?

Thanks in advance.

I don't know what black piece you are referring to, could you possibly upload a picture?

As for sealing it, remember that it does have fluids in it. You will need to apply sealer to all places that had it before.

I think I know what you mean about the black plastic thing. Is it long and thin? It's the oil guide. It's important to put it back where it came from. I really wish I had some pictures for you, this is tough to describe. I have the part in my hands, and I also have my tranny apart, so here goes...

At one end of the black plastic oil guide you'll see two hooks pointing in toward each other. That part hooks onto a tab located on the large center case, not the bellhousing, and not the small end cover. Look near where the shift cable bracket is bolted to the trans, when the case is bolted to the bellhousing the tab is an inch away from that bracket, but the case needs to be off for the guide to fit in. The oil guide will line up parallel with the gear shafts. I'm not sure if that's clear, so let me know if I just sent you on a wild goose chase!

Yeah it is long and thin.So I belive that it is the oil guide so thanks on that aspect. As for where it goes I am going to print out what you sent me and try and follow the instructions tommorow morning.I'll let you know how it works out. Thanks

I found a picture that shows where the oil guide goes. I should have looked here earlier. It's one of the VFAQ's of course.

The picture is around the 12th picture down. The odd thing is that the picture is upside down, the oil guides are on the top of the case, and it shows two guides. My 92 and 90 DSM's only have one guide. I guess some later models got two guides. The view is from the clutch side looking out. The Haynes manual also shows the orientation of the oil guides.

HTH
in fact, I KNOW this has got to help more than that first jumbled post I wrote! Good Luck!

To tell you the truth I actually used the first post to get it on there and found it with no problem thanks. But In my immortal wisdom I neglected to check VFAQ before I posted.Stupid me.But any ways thanks for the help it was much appreciated.
