clutch problems

hey guys a lttle hel;p here,
i got a 95 non turbo eclipse and just recently while in neutrak without the clutch depressed the tranny makes this sort of scraping sound, its not obnoxious but its still noticeable. when you depress the clutch it goes away and it does it in first gear also any clue what might be doing it?
Also i have recently like today, noticed that all my upper gears want to stick 1st 3rd and 5th theres no problems but going into is tight and coming out of gear requires some effort. any info would be great

throw out bearing. buy a new clutch along with it since you will be pulling the trans out. get the oem mitsu tob. don't use the one that comes with the clutch.

It would not be the Throw Out Bearing. A bad throw out bearing makes the most noise when you push the clutch pedal down. It sounds like its in the tranny. If it makes noise when the cluch is engaged than the tranny is getting power to it. If the noise goes away when you push the clutch down then you are taking away the power to the tranny. Thats telling me that the problem is in the tranny. If it was a bad TOB then it would make more noise when you push the clutch. Fisrt check that your tranny has fluid. If it does then drain it annd look for metal in it. Hold it in the sun light and see if it sparkles like glitter.

I had many throwouts go bad with my 2600 clutch. All of the times except once, when I'd push the clutch in the noise would get worse, when I'd let off the clutch the noise would lessen or disapear. But I have had it go bad where there was a tremendous screetching noise when the clutch was not pressed, and the noise would go away with the pedal pressed. Even though I did not hear a screetching I could feel a vibration with the pedal pressed. This happened when I downsfhited near redline, the stock throwout just couldn't handle it. Before I could get the car home, had to drive across town, the noise reversed to only when the clutch was being pushed.

As the throwout goes bad or gets deformed it becomes harded to shift the car into the gears. That being said, I would still do as turbo2awd states and check the fluid in the transmission. I hope its just the trowout.
