Fort Worth,
Sorry for this complete noob question, but I tried searching and theres nothing here, at vfaq or on other dsm boards. I was wondering what the step by step of reinstalling my clutch would be. I need torque specs for the pressure plate. I know the flywheel is 100 ft/lbs but I haven't heard about the pressure plate. I can handle it after getting the bellhousing bolted back to the motor, but before that I'm kinda sketchy. The VFAQ doesn't really explain reinstallation of the clutch disc and pressure plate.

Also, I am almost ashamed to ask this but which way does the clutch go in? Do the springs go inside the flywheel or pressure plate? I was looking at it and I don't think there is anyway they could go inside the flywheel but I am just nervous about doing this and don't want to screw anything up so I thought I'd ask.

Once again, sorry for the noob questions, I just don't want to screw this up. Its been a huge learning experience and I would hate to mess something up on my first time.

WOOO! Im kinda in the same boat, Except im not installing a clutch, just swaping trans! and what a pain in the ass it is. Witch clutch are you installling???? Aftermarket or stock????

check out howstuffworks.com and search for clutch, itle show you a bassic Diagram of how a clutch goes together. Almost all clutches are the same.

Torque the pressure plate to 11-16 ft-lbs. It's not much, just a little over finger tight. Also use locktite on those bolts, and the flywheel bolts, too. Both the flywheel and the PP bolts should be torqued in steps. With the PP, snug up the bolts 1/4 turn at a time to avoid warping the PP.

You're right, the springs go in the PP, that's the only way it fits.

Thanks alot guys. I had a good idea of how this was supposed to work but I've never done it so I just wanted to get an informed opinion. Hopefully by tomorrow evening it should be back and running. I can't wait, being without a car for 2 weeks has killed me.

As for the clutch, I got an AMS feramic. Its supposed to be a great unit for 2Gs so I thought I'd try it out. AMS was great to work with. They answered my questions and I got my clutch in under one week (Ill. to TX) so I'm pleased.
