Ok i started my car today after putting in a new clutch. I pushed the clutch in and tried to get the car in gear and it would grind as if the clutch was not being pushed in. So i took a look under the hood while my brother pushed the clutch and the piston that pushes the clutch fork was pushing the clutch fork what seems to be as far as it could. When pushing the clutch it does feel like there isn't much resistance and the pedal doesn't pop back out as fast as it should. I bled the system to where there's no air or at least no more is coming out, but the problem remains. The only thing i can think of would be if the throw out bearing isn't attached to the clutch fork correctly and therefore im not getting the resistance in the pedal because the clutch plate isn't making contact with the throw out bearing. Ive tried starting the car while in gear with the clutch in and it seems like im not pushing the clutch pedal at all. I have a 90engine w/ a 2g fwd tranny. Any ideas?

maybe u need a longer clutch slave cylinder rod? have u adjusted ur clutch pedal after installing ur clutch?

wat kind of shape was ur clutch fork and fulcrum ball in? maybe as soon as u installed it, it broke in two?

sorry if im not helping much

the whole slave, fork, fulcrum are all new. In fact i just had the tranny rebuilt so it's all new, i haven't adjusted the pedal but i would think that even without adjusting it that there would be some disengaging of the clutch. Don't worry about whether or not your helping, you're at least trying to help which is greatly appreciated.

Rossy.
I know my situation is a little different since i have a 1g, but.. I had the same problem, rebuilt the motor, installed a new 2600. Wouldnt go in gear to for the life of me.. i believe 2gs are the same concept, but with mine I used a longer slave rod and adjusted the clutch assembly at the pedal.. Now to do this right you need to adjust the pedal assembly all the way back off and with the stock rod in place.. bleed it.. Then after that install the new longer rod, be careful not to let the piston move out of the slave cylinder while installing the new one. Then readjust the clutch assembly rod. This you can fine tune where you want the clutch to release. This worked perfect for me, i have about an 1" of free play off the floor. The rods are available at Taboo Speed Shop .com, they sell the rod and have a tech section explaining this procedure and the adjustment steps for the pedal assembly.. I hope this helps.. good luck!! :thumb:

that makes sense since you got a act clutch, but the clutch i have is a stocker, so i dont see why i would need a longer rod. I guess ill try to bleed the system the way you said and see if that helps. If not i guess ill try the longer rod.

well, i believe ive narrowed it down to one of two things. Either the flywheel was not turned correctly and the step got all messed up, or the clutch i got is defective. Has anyone ever had a prob with the first?
