Edmonton,
so, from what i know, there are no short shifters available for this year...I have a 90 tsi AWD and want my shifter shorter. I have a shorter knob, but is there anythign else I can do? is it safe to CUT my shifter and re-thread it?

thanks

you might already know this but by cutting it ur not really gaining a short shifter ur just making it shorter. possible yes, i know plenty of people who did it. like i said though your still not making ur shift throw any shorter realisticly. some people may disagree though. I'm sure someone else would say the same. to answer ur question again i don't know about safe so much, but it's def do-able.

Shift levers are more oftem cut and re-welded rather than re-threaded. They're tough as hell
As to whether it really makes a short-shifter out of it, the distinction between lowering the handle or raising the pivot is pretty much without distinction.

Pilot Motorsports makes a billet aluminum short shifter for the 89-94 Dsm. I wasn't sure if u have found any actual short shifters. This local auto parts store(A&A) carries it but if there's none around u, just try finding it by searching pilot motorsports. hope this helps
