hey guys i have a ?, this just started to happen with my car. every time i launch my car now around 4500-5500 i smell clutch, ive never smelt it before intill about 2 weeks ago. Do you guys smell ur clutch to or am i just tring to push my launch to hard

If I lauch my stock clutch at more than 6000 then it slips and I can smell it, but at 5500 no slipping and I cant smell any clutch. I've never had a stronger clutch so I cant say from experience, but I would think you would be able to launch much harder with out slipping your clutch.

well actually i only know how to lauch with slipping my clutch with my 2600 i have to or ill bog my launch, what other ways are there.

how i do it
i rev to what ever i want, get to where the clutch starts to grab then when im ready to go i slip it realy realy slow, then when my foots all the way out i slam the gas. when i slam the gas its already about 5k rpms by time my foot is out

haha i got a 2G FWD with a upgraded clutch, thats not great, but stronger than stock. I feather launch mine..dunno if awd's do that, but its worth a shot. Feather yours up and down between 5k and 5,500. dont give full gas unless your positive your clutch will hold. i know for mine and a few other dsm'ers, that if they give full WOT in first, they just slip in 1st and thru most of second. try not letting it out so slow, just easy on the gas, until u feel your cool, then slam the gas and shit hard into second. thats the best way i think to launch..esecially w/clutch problems...

Anytime you get a strong smell of clutch burning it means you slipped it too much. A slight whiff of clutch burn scent is about the most you should get with an AWD. FWD is different, you should slip the clutch mercilessly so the tires don't spin.

A good AWD launch with an ACT 2600 goes something like this; hold rpms at about 5500, when the light turns green let the clutch out aggressively, it should only take about half of a second, floor he throttle at the same time you start to engage the clutch, that way you have power to keep from bogging. If your windshield wipers aren't coming on automatically, you aren't launching hard enough!

ill try slipping it harder first off but like i said it bogs if i slipp it slow then go fast. ill try this tomorrow its too late to go tonight LOL. thanks for the help though ill get back to u. also i now i could lauch harder then what i can thats another reason y i asked. im also haveing a problem with something when i rev to 5500 its hard because my engine vibrates so much and my pedel gets sucked down so its hard to hold at that and i cant figure out what that is

Sounds good! That's what should happen if you have the power. The clutch grabs, the engine stays in the powerband, and you GO!

My way that I get best launches (not the most experiences but I pulled 2.5 cars on a trans am so I gotta be doing something right) go like this:

Rev to 5500 or whatever and let it drop 500 rpms and rev it back up to 5500 again. So kinda like 5500-5000-5500. Do this to get the turbo spooling.

Next right as you put the foot on the gas to bring it up the rpms to 5500 this time slam the gas and slip the clutch WAY QUICK but DO NOT DUMP. If you hear the front tires slightly break traction and you stay squated all the way through first you did good.

I've never experienced that, I don't think it should be doing that. When I bog a lauch it all that happens is the rev's drop, not violently like jumping, and it takes a second to get them back up.

Sounds like you need to be giving it more gas (or maybe less if the revs are dropping to what they should be at) so that its almost like starting off from stop. Give gas and let clutch out at same time. Sound like your shifting skill need to be improved (no offense at all) so you get consistent fast shifts. Or you could just not lift your foot off the gas and shift. That'll make you go fast, fast to the tranny shop that is....LOL.
