Sup guys, I ran my FWD laser at the track yesterday.

I have busted engine mounts so I took it easy on the launches, only netting a best of a 2.33 60' and throttle manipulation.

MY mods are 3" Exhaust, crushed 3" DP

Walbro 255, K&N, UIC

BPR7ES Plugs @.028

With a HORRIBLE launch here is the slip

.948
2.335
6.067
9.025
84.40
11.536
13.667
105.81

So what do you guys think?, that 1lmost 106mph trap is pretty sweet....with around 19psi and race fuel and a low 2.1 or 2.0 60' I should be in the 12's?

Peace

It's good to see a FWD having some good runs at the track. I have a lot of trouble with traction on the track, but that was with cheapo cooper tires. I have some new ones now. What did you have for tires ?

nice driving

Thanks man, I've got some dunlop W10's that are bald, LOL!

I am used to driving a High powere FWD Vehicle. I had a 2nd Gen Probe GT with an Eaton M90 Supercharger than ran high 12' s in the 1/4 mile. It was really hard to get those tires to stick, but with a set of Ground control coilover and some Tokiko shocks I had no problem pulling 2.0 60's all day long on street tires.

Im going back to the track soon, I actually had better traction on the track than the street due to me lowering my front tires to 20psi...that helped wonders as usually I can roast the tires 1st through 3rd on the street at 34psi.

Im shooting for 12's by the end of the month...hopefully with some Drag radials and 20psi in conjunction with 110 fuel will do it...

peace

Oh! there was a White laser like mine there at the track as well.

FWD and all with some big slicks and Nitrous (amongst other shit im sure) well he ran a

11.2@130mph!!!!

I was like holy shit thats bad ass.

Nice job man :thumb:.

I guess I need a little practice driving, check mods and then ask me why I have run a best of 14.440 .

Sounds like you got some tuning to do. It's all in the launch, it is ALWAYS better to spin off the line rather than bog off the line....at leastif you spin, you have the motor revved up and the turbo kicks in much sooner.

Im a good driver....even though I could not launch the car hard I still shifted very fast, keeping that turbo going.

I also removed my balance shaft belt. It snapped about a month ago and made my engine skip timing on the timing belt. I almost lost my engine, one more tooth and it would have time for a new head. SO I said screw it, im not putting it back in, and I dont have time to physically remove the BS's. Well, so far so GREAT.I dont have a balance shaft eliminator kit..I dont see the point. Once you take the belt off, the balance shafts are no longer being turned by the crank and the drivetrain loss is freed.

My car idles excellent also...hardly any vibration at idle..maybe just a little but not noticible really.

Ummm... the balance shaft belt only goes to the front balance shaft. The rear balance shaft is still turning, plus it's attached to the oil pump, so it's a real pain to get that one out. But don't worry about it, I drove around in my 90 Laser with the front b-shaft belt broken for several months, and I only noticed a little more vibration aroun 3-4k rpm.
Oh, yeah. Nice times for the mods!

Cool, well you learn something new every day, thanks for the heads up.

I have'nt noticed any difference other than a slightly rougher idle and I mean slightly..now that I think of it maybe it does vibrate a bit at 3-4k but my engine mounts are screwed so I cant really say for sure.

Oh well....screw that belt, it's an accident waiting to happen, plus Half the balance shafts not moving, is still less parasitic loss than both running.

FWD Traction:

Dual stage boost controller. Launch at 8 or 10 lbs, then when you get in to second gear, 'click' over to 18psi.

Eibach Pro-Kit coils and KYB struts. Some guys only put them in the rear, and get the adjustable KYB's so they can play with it a bit more.

Nitto or BFG drag radials. I haven't tried these yet, BFG Comp TA HR's hook up pretty good.

You also might want a BM Tranny limited slip insert.

I had a 1990 Laser with K&N, dumped exhaust, 255 pump...it was a beast if you could get it out of the hole. It ate new 4.6 Mustangs and LT1 camaros all day. I stayed right with a LS1 Firebird and he had to get out of it because we were in a slight turn and he was losing it.
