at the shootout this year i put down a [email protected]
'95 AWD talon
fidanza flywheel,rps stage 3 6 puck,k&n filter,uicp,licp, 1g bov and tb,stock smic, ported 14b, stock dp, o2 dump, 2.5"test pipe, 3" thermal cat back, safc, avcr set at 1.5 bar, major weight reduction.

ran VP unleaded 103 octane race gas
1.75 60 ft
8.077 @ 86.32 1/8 mile

forgot to say that it was midday, 80ish degrees, untuned, 2500+ corrected altitude.
 
ok. people have trapped higher and had better ET's with similar mods and no weight reduction...Keep practicing.....
 
the only other 2g that i've seen go faster with a 14b, is the Extreme Motorsports car that went 12.52. and with a fmic, dp, and cutout, i see no reason why i can't pass that up.
 
was that a 2g?? last i knew that was a 1g, and i've heard of 11's with 1g's now.

Man you guys arent very smart if you think you can compare 2g times with 1g times on similar mods.

Give me a break. I say congrats to you. Especially for your driving. I am running the same ET's at 109mph.
 
im not taking away from your accomplishments at all. i know exactly what the 14b is capable of, and am very fond of the turbo. i personally went 13.3 on one with only 16 psi on crappy cali 91 octane WITH the cat. my old setup had A LOT more in it before i prematurely upgraded to the green.

i also didnt see the "2G" designation. i have no idea how fast 2Gs have gone with the 14b.

Stock dp and IC thats a very good time! Congrats.
 
Congratulations. I think that's very impressive for a 2G. I went 13.6 with full weight plus a sub box, gas can, spare tire/jack, and some tools. I would like to see what happens when you get rid of the restrictive stock DP. And also, I wouldn't call Phil Beer's weight reduction moderate. He has no interior, and no seats but the driver. He kept most of the dash.

One of my friends with a 2G also did 12.52 with 6 bolt motor, 2.5dp, 2.5catback with really crappy 2” Muffler. He also had Starion FM (a waste of a mod IMHO), ported exhaust components, DSM Link (not very well tuned) and not much else… He could have gone much faster had he gotten real muffler and spent some more time tuning, but he just moved onto a larger turbo.

So I agree with you, beating 12.5’s shouldn’t be all that difficult.

It was 12.02 at 113. Phil’s mods are very modest! But at 2590lbs (w/out driver) that is a pretty light car. People accuse my car of being “gutted” and it is ~100 lbs heavier…

I am not sure that there is much significance to a 2G vs. 1G records anymore. 1G’s weight advantage can be easily matched by a well prepped 2G. Up until recently, 1G’s had superior ECU, but that advantage totally swayed the other way, in favor of 2Gs, with introduction of DSM Link, which I consider A MUST for any serious 2G owner!

thanx a lot guys. i'm learning more and more every day. i need to get a downpipe badly, and it looks like some alky injection may be accompanying my car in the future. plus i've still got the stock 22lb talon wheels with some crappy arse tires. i think i'm gonna grab some 5-spoke eclipse wheels with some nitto 450s. and i haven't even attempted to tune on race gas yet. ive got it tuned pretty well on the pump, but i've only seen a 13.1 on pump.:mad:
 
update, i ran a 8.069 1/8 mile tonite, only 1/8 mile track. egt's were 1598. i need a dp.
 
good job on the stock dp and stock IC :)

Now try that with pump gas. Unless you (and anyone else) can run race gas everyday, don't run it at the track. IMHO of course. I think its all about how fast your car goes the way you drive it every day.

Good to hear that there is some life left in my 14b tho :)
 
pardon me for saying so, but thats a dumb way to look at things.

just because your car isnt in the greatest tune every day, and you cant afford dyno time every week, must mean that you should shit-tune it for track days to be the same as on the street. also, good grip not allowed; throw some sand down to even things up. You should also do a rolling start off the line, instead of a launch, since thats how it goes down on the street.

who needs performance? i want to flog my daily driver the way i daily drive it. detonation be damned, cause im too cheap for the good stuff.

Ive driven around on race gas on the street plenty of times. Not using race gas is dumb. You go to the track with your 720's and big turbo and cams and your as fast as your buddy on a 16g and 550's.....#### that.

I give you much props man...thats a very good time on the 14B especially in the 2G...anyone that would say otherwise is just jealous they cant do it, all they can do is (hear about someone else doing it) great job and keep it up...peace
 
dude, thanx a lot. i'm glad to see someone else on here who looks at things like i do. i never expected to be anywhere near where i'm at. all i wanted was a 12 second run. and it just kept goin faster.i can't wait to get some cash so i can get it even quicker. oh and the gas i'm usin is only 103 octane, and it is unleaded. and next year i'll prolly be running that in it at ALL times. but rite now i drive it EVERY day set the same as i have it at the track, i just don't like to nail it with 92-94 octane at 1.55 bar:shhh:

You aren't very smart if you think you read somewhere in my post that i was referring to a 1g. Smarten up.....
 
well, i can see where he's comin from though. since there is only 1 other 2g that is faster. and that is a Extreme Motorsports car

dude thats insane!! killer car.. compared how much the 2g is choked up from the factory to the 1g, and your runnin that is pretty insane... wish i could run that! oh yea i have fwd..
