i ran my car for the first time at a nearby dragstrip Wednesday night (8/14). Heres the results....
R/T .747
60 2.611
330 6.668
1/8 9.881
MPH 76.63
1000 12.602
1/4 14.889
MPH 98.11

Now to me thats pretty sh!tty considering all the mods i got if u check out my mods list, and looking on the site, people have similar things done to there GST's and are runn hell of alot better. Any tips on how i should launch? Please helpppp

Couple other things. Is the car tuned? Do you have logging equipment. Your mph seems low. Are you using the stock o2 housing. If so I would imagine you are getting boost creep pretty bad at the end of the track possibly effecting timing. Try not to dump the clutch when green goes. Drive through the power not over it. Dual stage bc's are a must on the fwds. Set the first stage at enough boost to just sqeak the tires not burn them. Spinning tires get you nowhere. As for the mph and power, I think you may be limited to a few weak links in your package i.e. o2 housing, cat con., intercooler, piping. The mods in your prolfile are they all or is there more?

bc is boost controller. Get some drag radial and don't worry about 1/4 times or the guy next to u. Worry about tryin to get your 60 ft times lower. In my 90 tsi I did 2.1 with drag radials and it was my first time drag racing and this is with the stock suspension and tranny. Launch around 3500 and learn the spot spot for your car.

MY friend adam who is a member has a 1995 Gst with a boost controller and a 02 housing back 3 inch exhaust with 255 fuel pump and intercooller piping and he ran a 14.8 with the stock turbo
somethings wrong with your tuning most likely with that much fuel moving you need to seriosuly dyno tune that thing you can expect to run mid 13s if that thing is tuned correctly

Are you still on the stock T-25? Don't worry, I went from 14.6 @ 98 MPH with my basically stock set-up, similar to yours.

On my current set-up, checks my profile for mods. Best E.T. - 14.440 @ xx MPH. I didn't get a slip, I just read the board as I went by :thumb: . And Best MPH - 101.32 MPH. Kind of sad if you look at my mods.

Most of the time for us FWD guys to go fast we need a few things. A dual stage boost controller to keep the boost down in first and second then slam it wide open in third gear and beyond. Some slicks, drag radials or some very sticky street tires at low pressure to get any kind of decent grip off the line. Definately have to be a good driver and it's going to take alot of practice to get the 60' time down enough to run a respectable E.T.

Keep us updated on how you and your FWD hold up.

Jake

FWD's are very hard to launch with even alittle bit of mods. My cars best is 13.5 ET, and a 107 MPH trap speed. I have alot done to it but am fairly new at drag racing, I'm just trying to get to the track as often as possible, and like was said many times before...practice practice practice! P.S. I found that on my AGX's if you harden the rear as high as it can go, the less weight transfer you get and better launces, don't stiffen the front or wheel hop gets worse!

I went to Race warslike in june with my laser prettty much stock on 93 octane pump gass at 15lbs of boost r. all i had done was a crushed blow off valve, MBC, home made pepboys pipping exhuast 2.5" for catalytic back . cat wwas gutted but every thing else is stock. and i ran consecutively in the high to mid 14's best was 14.6 at 96.9 mph i was having problems getting off the line and traction through first gear no boost creep!! if nething boost would drop a pound or two at the ed of my gears around 6500 to 7000 range
my r/t would never be lower than .949 no tuning nuthing. is theresum thing wrong

Sweet, it's in in the tuning of your car. I would suggest throwing in some a can of Xylene from Home Depot and mix that with about 2.5 gallons of gas. I say put in 4-5 gallons of 93 and then 2 gallons of Xylene. It works great for running higher boost.

Or you could just slap in some 100 octane race fuel for the track. heheeh

Also, I would suggest jumping the pins for the fan relay so you can keep your fans running when your waiting in line to run..that way when you have the key in the ignition the fans are blowing....works great for me as well...as you can see Im running close to the same times as the other FWD above and I dont even have half the mods.

Also, im my opinion you MUST take your front tire pressure down to at the MOST 25psi..I run 20psi and I did not have any tractions issues but then again I did not launch very hard..but it gripped in second no problem...put the pressure in your rear tires to the max rating also for better weight distribution.

If you don't mind, would you care to explain the procedure of "jumping the pins for the fan relay"? I think this is probably in vfaq, but I haven't found it yet.

Jake

Well if your standing on the passenger side of the car looking across the hood from side to side here is how you do it. As in, standing infront of the passenger wheel towards the driver wheel.

Pop open the fuse cover box. Look on the cover for the FAN relay.

Take out the Relay and jump these two terminal with a wire.

You want to jump the X terminals together. they are not really marked X but I did it so it would be easier to explain.

Peace.

did worse, never got to try out what u said to try to do PRESSURIZED, ill b sure to try next time tho. Does what u say really help u with the launch?

Who me? Check my sig.

And yes, doing what I said will help you immensly. Esp with the launch. You have a 13 second car with tuning and MUCH better launch. What id you launch at? You did'nt just rev it up and dump the clutch did you?

tunned or un tunned, ur car will be faster if you get your 60 foot times down. I went from (first track run) 2.4 60foot, 14.0@104 on street tire, to 12.6@111 with little slicks. No tunning, stock turbo, intercooler, bla bla bla. Ur next mod should be some sticky rubber

What are you using to tune the car? What are your AFC settings at? How much boost? Your times are terrible. You are running t-25 times.

On a side note, with no tuning on a big 16g with a stock downpipe and cat and 15 psi. I went 14.9@100 w/a 2.6 60 foot.:(

4k rpm is way too high, im pulling a 14.0 with my current setup, stock turbo and 450s, i feather the clutch at like 1500rpm, any higher than that and i join the burnout contest :thumb:

i tried somethin new tonight that my friend taught me, scary shit but it worked for me.

I dump it at 3800 about, and when the wheels start to spin and its around 4 1/2 grand, i quickly ease my foot off the gas and then when the tires grip i pound it to the floor. I was amazed on how it actually worked. Im gonna practice with it and update u guys when i try it out in the track.

any of u guys know anyone that has been successful with some type of LSD for our FWDs?

holy crap that 2.6 60ft is killing you! you need to learn how to launch your car!

even when I had my T25 I would hit 14.7-14.4 all day long and my 60fts would average from 2.3 to 2.1

looking at your setup you should have a 13 second car! I think the problem exist between the drivers seat and steering wheel LOL!

PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!

Oh and I totally agree about the tire pressure tip! I deflate my front tire to 20-18PSI and inflate the rears to 40PSI

Good luck!
