OK, I know my 60 foot is bad for a gsx but it was my first time running ... what do you awd guys launch at? I have an act 2600 and fidanza flywheel and launched it at 5000 and once I got moving the rpms dopped to about 3000 and then I started pickingup speed... think I should launch at 5500 and let the clutch out slower? What should a decent 60 foot be? Here's my slip:

R/T ....... .428
60' ..... 2.016
330 ..... 5.744
1/8 ..... 8.860
MPH ..... 79.47
1000 ... 11.490
1/4 ..... 13.740
MPH ...... 99.14

This was with a 1997 gsx with a ported 16g, 34mm flapper, 1.10 bar, full 3" exhaust, Gforce ECU, ACT2600, Fidanza Fywheel, Upgraded Fuel pump, upgraded IC pipng, Greddy Type S bov, Pro-Kit drop. I think I can hit low 13s for sure ... I had 3/4 tank of pump gas and bad start ...

was your tree a pro tree? pro trees are set for a 0.4 second reaction time normal trees are set for a 0.5 second reaction time. or did you foul. i know gsx is AWD but did you spin tires a lot? i hear about people launching at 6500 rpm. i dont have a AWD so i dont know exactly but youve got a good clutch so try that one time. an if youre going for straight times instead of worrying about who is gong to make it down the 1/4 mile first just go when you fell like it and get a good time. you can sit there forever and your time wont start until that is you get out of your staging lights. so try that.

The tree was set up so it was stage 1, then stage 2, the 3 quick yellow lights ... then green. I went .428 seconds after the green but I didn't spin the tires at all. Just locked right up and rpms dropped down to 3k. I think I need to launch a bit higher .... I though 5k was a good rpm to launch at but I guess not.

I see a good quarter time, but not much mile per hour. From what I've seen 99 mp equates into about 14.0 or very high 13's. you ran 13.7, so I'd say you could do with a bit more tuning. 13.7 should equate to around 103?? Someone correct this if its off.

Of course knock a 10th off your 60' and you should do better too.

is there a place that list in detail how a person drags an AWD from launch through 3rd gear? I am not sure exactly how to do it to be most quick...

that's not a bad 60' time, 1.7's are good.

you want to ride the clutch so that the rpms never fall below say, 4500-5000 rpm. reving to 6000 isn't a bad place to start. people might disagree with me, but you want to be in your powerband the entire way down the track.

you'll need to practice. the 2600 should handle it. i would not suggest dumping the clutch or "sidestepping", recipe for broken shite. your clutch is meant to be consumable. trannies, axles and such are not.

the fastest way through 3rd is with a modded ECU with the no-lift-to-shift feature. basically a 6000-6500 rpm rev limiter when the clutch is depressed. turbo is spooled all the way down the track. ballsy, very ballsy.

otherwise, get a good launch, make sure it goes into gear (the quicker the better), and get down the track. not too difficult with a reasonably sized turbo and a decent clutch.

log a run to see what your timing is at the end of the track. your timing may not be optimal at the end of the track. also some other specs would be nice. boost being one of them.

its freaking friday.

when doing the 1-2 or 2-3 shift, is it better to have the engine revs high and slowly let out clutch keeping the rpm range up or just dump the clutch and let the engine rev at the same rate as the speed increases?

I must be heatsoaking my intercooler or something .... I ran again and look at the 60 foot here and the trap speed here:

R/T ........ .777
60' ........ 1.790
330 ........ 5.435
1/8 ........ 8.516
MPH ........ 80.45
1000 ....... 11.127
1/4 ....... 13.369
MPH ....... 99.26

R/T ........ .670
60' ........ 1.865
330 ........ 5.474
1/8 ........ 8.551
MPH ........ 81.01
1000 ....... 11.192
1/4 ....... 13.412
MPH ....... 100.64

heh ... wierd

The problem is the trap speed .... 60 foots are good and the time is good bt the trap speed is a little low in my opinion. I learned hw to launch it however towards the end of 2nd and through 3rd I seem to lose power. Could my stock intercooler be heatsoaking?

what does the log look like? what is your timing doing?

you're definitely losing power at the top end. the only way to figure out why is to log the run.
