So... Took the blue car out for one last track trip before the end of the season. I'm still on the hunt for a 12-sec time slip, but apparently I cannot launch the car to save my life.

Check out this B.S.:

Yes.. that's a [email protected]. Car was trapping 109/110 all afternoon. So I KNOW the 12's are there. But I could not do any better on the 60-ft... it would either spin or bog. Then I'd end up short shifting instead of trying to drive through the spin. Oh well, I'm just glad to see the car is running fine, staying together, and is making power as indicated by the MPH. So maybe next year!

This is an E316g setup with 272/272 cams and 18-20psi (depending on the air temps).

HAHAHA! The Auto idea did cross my mind. But I can't give up that easy! ;)

That true, I forget that tire condition does matter.. even on AWD. The tires on the car are not the best anymore. Will be adding that to the list of things to get for next spring.

Still a decent time. Upgrade to E85 on 25lbs of boost and you'll see a MAJOR difference LOL still haven't ran my car but will once the 20g is back on.

What tire are you running? And is your camber corrected? I see you're lowered.

They are BFG's.. I think they were called "super sport" at the time. They are about 5 years old now, starting to dryrot. :/ Time flies! Size wise.. they are around 205/55/R16's. I forget off hand.

The camber is within the stock "spec", but JUST barely. This suspension setup is going to change over the winter.

Tires will make or break a time. You need the traction. It sucks that this is the last run of the season. I know how bad you want to try again.:thumb:

I havent had a chance to use e85. Wish I can.

Indeed... I'm not going to give up that easily....no matter how frustrated I get. Just gotta get out there and practice with it some more.

More boost at this point won't help the fact I cannot launch it. The car is making decent power based off the MPH. So before giving it more, I think I need to learn to drive it. :)

Yeah, you;re right Shane.. I probably should have lowered the tire pressure some. They were at 31psi. But when I saw that a very high percentage of the people there were having traction issues; figured... might as well just try to work on the other aspect I need to work on: No lift shifting. Very hard to break that habit!!

Ouch...I had a buddy run pretty much the exact time slip you posted....but hes FWD on 20 psi ebay 16g with 272/272 cams.

The next time out rev the car out to 6k, hold the handbrake, bring the clutch out to the point of friction, then slowly start releasing the clutch while simultaneously releasing the brake.

Doing it this way i was able to get a best '60 of 1.7s with a 14b @ 15psi and no 2step whatsoever, regular street tires full pressure

I had a similar set up. Left the line around 4500-5000 (no 2-step) don't just dump the clutch. You wanna let it 90% or so out and let it slip a little then let it all the way out. I was doing high 1.6 60FTs running 12.2 @ 107MPH. Your MPH is good for an 11.9 possibly. :hellyeah: just keep practicing!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. As for the video, I was messing around with launching it from a lower RPM. That was around 5000rpm. I do have a 2-step set up on it; set to 5500rpm; but it was doing the same thing as you see in the video. So I think the problem is in how I'm not slipping out the clutch correctly and causing it to bog; going off of some of your suggestions. So I guess that's what I'll look forward to come spring! Oie... this time of year always is a bummer!

It would be amazing to get this car to run those low 12's or high 11's. :)

It was a joke, but since you brought it up. Sure you could learn to drive and maybe someday launch "almost" as good as an auto, 20% of the time.

Yup, they are more consistent, that's for sure. But if I went the Auto route, I'd just get another car and keep this one, too.

You need to either rev it higher on launch or slip the clutch more... You are bogging wayyyy to much and loosing all power. 2 step would solve your problem.

But anyway, this^^^

Bogging hard. But a way i've told people in the past that seemed to really help was to:

With the two-step set, lightly slip the clutch and the second you feel the car start to move, drop the clutch out as fast as you can.

Best way i could explain it LOL. Its kind of a "feel" thing.

Thanks! :)

I'm trying not to get all frustrated about it and laugh it off; but I was getting angry at the track yesterday because I kept trapping those speeds, with the same 13.4...13.5...13.4...13.4 times. Everyone just told me to keep practicing with it; eventually it'll start running the ET's to match the MPH. Hopefully. LOL!

But, as mentioned, I am planning on new tires for the car, as well as a different suspension setup over the winter. So perhaps that will help me some next season, too.

Like I said on Facebook, great trap speeds.. I know how you feel about getting angry and trying to brush it off.. Last season my car was on a 20g at 19psi and still FWD.. Couldnt even break into the 13s with my 18" street tires.. Trapped 107/108 though!! So I knew it had the potential, I just couldnt drive! And even this year on my holset (almost exact same set up as Peepers) Ive had nothing but disappointments one after another and couldnt get a solid run in at all! :/

launch the car at higher rpm i launch my stock 1g between 5000-6000 rpm my 60fts are 1.9 (no 2step)
