well, we went to the dragstrip today and i was extremly pleased with the car, i feel theres more in it but my first pass i went a 13.65 @99.39mph. I adjusted some timing a hair and got a 13.33 @101.29. boost was at 21 psi during those runs on an HX35 in bep .55 mitsu housing. I upped boost to 25 psi for my last run and got 12.9 @103.88.
.8988 reaction
1.83 60ft
8.1753 1/8th @82.39
12.9782 1/4 @103.88

hx35 bep housing .55
FP 4" intake
EVS frontmount
very low timing

heres a log. I got a little bit of knock during this run, dont understand as timing is low and AF ratios look good, tad rich

hope my log upload works

I was trapping 14.5 at 99-100 on my 68hta at 13psi. That was on a day that was 100 degrees outside. I know i should have been going a lot quicker with the mph I was putting down. You have to remember though pratice makes perfect but you always take a chance breaking stuff also LOL. Just a part of racing. Good job man for the first time at the track.

Anyone have an idea why trap speeds would be so low?
thanks for the comments so far. looks like i have to investibgate why traps are down. Boost didnt drop according to map sensor and i think i shifted pretty fast. My tire combo probly didnt help, they are 235 40 r18s

I thought the holsets didn't "wake up" till around 30 psi. Is there a reason you are running lower boost?

I get knock like crazy any higher than 25psi. I need to learn how to tune better. Ive dropped my timing sliders -6degrees and still get knock over 25 psi. Need someone to check my tune

Your mph is low because your power is low. Your power is low because your tune is poor. I would take the car to someone to tune it on a dyno and have then tune the car and since you're learning to tune, watch what changes they make and ask questions as to why that change was made. If they have a problem with that, go to another tuner. You're down about 15mph on you're traps, which means your missing about 140-160whp, so your tune needs a lot of work. Did you have the turbo rebuilt before putting it on? Also check that the car is mechanically sound and you have no boost leaks.

Engine is mechanicly sound. Fresh rebuild around 5000 miles ago. All new timing comonents 175psi in each cylinder stock cams. Rebuilt head. Everything on engine is new. Turbo was not rebuilt before install. It spun freely and had no shaft play so i fiqured it was good. So how can you tell a tune is bad by looking at datalog other than knock? Thanks. I want to have stm tune it but i want to upgrade my dsmlink to v3 before i get it tuned.

I'd post up a log or two and see if you can get a little assistance here.

wow! by far the best info i have ever read about calibration. I calibrated by matching boostest to GM map sensor. they match pretty good so why do AF est and wideband readings not match? Im going to read that whole post again. thanks for the link c2ypt1c. Im going to restart fresh with dsmlink and try again using mafcomp tool to set closed loop and WBfactor to set higher maf points.

Seriously, that thread should be stickied. In the meantime...subscribe ;)

As Calan explained (see link in post #9 of THE thread), boostest is only accurate within a certain rpm range, near peak volumetric efficiency (around 5000-6000 rpm). This is why wbfactor is the preferred method for calibration.

No problem. Good luck, and post some logs after! :hellyeah:

Lower boost, increase timing. Those 18's are really hurting you I would say. As well as not even having near close to the correct values you need to see while tuning. You should search more, but regardless that was a good time for the first time at the track. But the holset will drag you further!! :D

Bigger injectors.

Also, the afr est. is not going to be equal to the wideband AFR. That's why its an estimate. Same with boost as far as I am concerned. Do you have the boost solenoid that ecmlink sells for us 2g's?

well I did some research on mafcomp settings and I think ive done a pretty good job so far. Ill post a few logs to review to see how im really doing and steer me in the right direction. thanks
I have fic 850's , should be good for my goal of 400 awhp
running 93 pump gas, as closest E85 station is like 1.5 hours away.

on to the logs one of them is an idle log, others are cruise and a few small pulls.
