First Run at the strip

Well just got back from the strip from my first run ever. Was a little upset with how I did but oh well, it was fun. I really gotta get this thing tuned now this run I ran what you see in the mod list with 16psi on my 16g untuned other than the base idle. and my damn laptop died so i couldnt get a log, but my wide band was good the whole time. All in all not to bad of a day spun all the way through first and my horrible driving skills reflect in the time lol. My buddy beat me in his Stock, minus a 14b pushing 15psi, COP, and fmic, GSX. I ran a spare set of his Big ass heavy 17s with some wide tires at 20psi to no avail. but here is a pic of the slip. hopefully i make it back next week tuned around 20psi with a bit more launch/ driving practice lol. Be easy on me like i said ive never even been on a drag strip before. feel free to give any advice you have minus awd swap, lsd, or slicks they are just not in the budget right now, maybe one day ill get the awd, one day.

You need to get dsmlink and tune.Along with some better tires for the next run. Also practicing would help as well. But really not a bad time at all for a stock gst.

Bud, he said he's got a 16g, but yeah, Link is a wonderful investment but most important right now is practice.

That's right he has a 16g.Does that not classify as a stock gst? One bolt on is a non stock car.

Why are you getting on my nerves today Mike.Earlier All I could think aboot was going ham on my girl. Now it's, wait.I know how to make myself feel better.Check your phone in a wee bit..

I still haven't been back yet, but I've started tuning a little bit. My plans are practice driving first lol, then if I can get a decent time with my mods tuned, then I'm going to try and get a set of slicks or atleast DRs. Thanks for the input guys maybe I'll have a update in a week or 2 with a much better time lol.

Take it easy leaving the line. Turning your front tires into rotating bombs of smoke might look cool on camera, but as you can see, the end results are less then ideal. Preload the suspension with your ebrake, and don't do a burn out with street tires. With some seat time you'll get better!

Pretty sure having a 16g means the car isn't stock anymore...

Seat time is gonna be the most beneficial. Just practice practice practice

You need to practice your driving man, and get something decent for the front, in order to help it hook up.

Yea I know the biggest thing I've got to work on is launching/driving. I think I'm going to try just my stock 16s next time I think those 17s did more harm then good last time.

def your launch is holding you back. 2.4 60' killed your chance. the one time i took my 92 fwd to the track i manged a 14.1 and the only mods i had were 3" exhaust and upper IC pipe and stock boost.
get that 60' time down and you will be happy.

Have you tried playing with the air pressure in the front tires, maybe a bit lower than for normal street driving will help a bit.

Also your friend that cut a 2.0 in the GSX should be slapped for sucking that bad

Yea I only got one run in before the rain so couldnt mess with pressure too much just dropped it to 20psi that run. It was his first time at the strip also lol. I can't say much seeing how bad I did lmao, but maybe next time. Any fwd'ers have a good launch rpm to start out with and play around with. I'm obviously not going to antilag the 16g. I just want to 2-step and slip the clutch with the ebrake.
