We have been testing the new 10" converter for a 1g tranny from sinister speed in one of our automatic gt4202 cars. I know alot of people that still use a 1g tranny are looking for options other than a stock restall so i figured i would post this up.

We are still in the process of getting everything dialed in but in the first track visit we where able to improve the cars best 60 form a 1.41 to a 1.36. This converter will flash to 5100 rpm which up until now has been impossible with a 1g converter. We are hoping to get the car back to the track this weekend and with some adjustments we have made hopefully get the car in low 1.30 60's.

Any questions can be answered by mike at sinister speed [email protected] .

Is this a lockup or non-lockup converter? Also what kind of stall speeds are you seeing vs flashing?

No lock up. We have had it as high as 4900 2-step building about 12 psi and its not hard to hold back. :thumb:

Youll have to email him.

Sent him an email, would be nice to have a backup in case our only 2G trans takes a major dump. Got 4-5 1G autos sitting around with only a crappy Hughes converter to go with them. Bout time someone came out with something worth a damn. You think you'll be making the switch to this unit Jesse?

You should mention that this was at a NO PREP event so the track was crap! Wish I would have known about these converter before I got my restall!

More than likely. ;)

Yes this is true

I talked to them a while back and he was talking about a max stall speed of 3500 rpm, so I just decided to wait... I have a GT42 as well and was slightly disappointed with converter choices as well. My buddies IPT went up to around 4600, still a 1G converter/trans so I figured I would go with one that I knew could gain a high stall speed.

Now with what you are saying I will contact them again and if they are able to gain that type of rpm I will buy one tomorrow, because 5100 would be amazing.

Are you getting 4600 out of an ipt restall? IF so how, my ipt restall will only flash to about 41-4200? Now to get to 5100 on this 10" converter you will either need a little n2o assistance or 2.3.

The convertor flashes to 5100 with or without nitrous? And what engine displacement is that car its being tested on?

With nitrous and it has a 2.0l, 8.5.1, hks 280s. I havent messed with it alot without n2o but it will come up to 3-3100 stall with no n2o with ease.

It took a while to narrow things down to have it flash so high, brake upgrades from the little stock brakes, a LOT of work on a tune, and a small shot.. That was also on a 2.3 setup, just not my car.

Luckily for me, I'm running both... A 2.3 (10:1 cr, kelford 280's, e85) and a direct port setup :thumb:

so nitrous is still needed for us big turbo 2.0 guys....unless this torque converter is 1/2 the price of a restall.....whats the benefit?

Getting the car closer to peak tq at launch rpm. We picked up .05's in the 60' just in the first track outing with this converter and to us that huge, especially since it was the track that wouldnt hold more power, not our car/setup.

Dont get me wrong im not trying to sell anyone this converter over the restall, but i get numerous pms on a regular basis asking how i get my car to 60' what it does. Most people dont want to put the time and parts into the countless hours testing that i have to get my car to leave perfect with the restall (1.28 60's) . It took me 3 years to get my car in the 1.3x 60's with out breaking. It took me 3 passes to get the test car in the mid 1.3's on an unprepped track. We will be doing alot more testing and have already made changes to the test car that i think will net us some low 1.3's @ 31xx lbs :thumb:

I was thinking this flashed to 5k ish off nitrous. :(

With the correct setup it might be possible. Getting the car over the 5psi hump is the hardest thing.
