GSX vs LT-1

This ass in town has the v8 attitude that makes me sick. Anyway he has a 96? I think Comaro with the LT-1 block, intake, exhaust, chip & possi-trac in the rear with some 275/45/17's can I take his ass or not. He telle everyone that he will beat me by 2 cars from a stop. My driving skills have gotten damn good from launching every day at the strip so that is no concern.....
I'm going to race no matter what because i think I can win but was hoping for a little reasurance from my fello DSMers.....

It will be close. Depends on drivers, but the cars are about equal.

I think if your car is tuned in half decent you should walk on him. That car with an LT1 is more then likely a mid 13 second car. A 1st gen 16G powered properly tuned DSM should be able to turn high 12s pretty easily.

I took a similar lt1, and I have taken ls1's. I have a 95 gsx with a 90 motor, hard pipes, full exhuast, boost control and fuel pump.

What mods are you running and how is your launch?

Just race. Don't ask, unless yer a pu$$ey, then you can ask and not race. But wear a dress when you do it.

Well, since he said he has a chip, I can already tell you he is full of crap. I also have a 1996 Z28, and they can't accept chips. You either get your computer programmed or you get a Piggyback module, which actually has been proven on a dyno to rob horsepower. With that in mind he probably only has a rear section flowlessmaster muffler on it. I know my bolt on LT1 is 13.2-13.5 depending on the weather, hot in Florida. My major mods are CAI, headers, no cats, 3" catback, and all the free mods. The big problem is traction. It is impossible to get traction under full throttle until 2nd gear. If you get traction, you should take him. Just race to 60mph, I am sure you will easily win.

It all depends on his launch, my dad has a stock (at the time of racing it) 95 t/a with an LT-1 and he has run 13.9 but usu. runs about 14.3-14.4s cause its really hard to get a good launch with the stock crappy tires. As long as you dont do anything stupid iit should be a good race.

If you were fwd I'd say chickien out but since you have awd, go slaughter him. When I had my old '94 Z28, that thing couldn't launch worth ####.
