Ever since I have gotton my 18s I haven't been able to lauch worth ####. Is that normal?? or is it just me?? A friend on mine said he'd sell me 2 stock 16 rims to put on while I'm at the track but should I see a big imporvement? I also race a mustang and I can lauch like a champ in that car so I know its not just my skill, but are the rims making that much of a difference. I can't get below 15.492 with the mods listed in my profile but w/o the no2. Any suggestions or input?

The Reason why you can't launch well with your 18's is because of the smaller sidewall ( prolly 40 series right?). When you accelerate hard the tire flexes but since there is less tire to flex it is easier to spin them. 16's with 55 series or whatever you want would be better because of the more flex. Also your time looks a little slow, your trap speed is kinda low, I trapped 96mph with basically the same mods (18's and all =)) on my 92 FWD

I know my track time suck ass, but i'm not a bad driver so I don't get it. My girl has a mustang and I race that all the time and get better times on it then anyone has even gotton close to, but in my car I suck ass!! WTF

Stock rims = heavy as hell
18's = bigger and slower rotation do to the size

I have 18's on my car. When I go to the track and lauch it it not that bad. Are you dumping your clutch or slipping it out? It funny because I get faster times with my 18's than my stockers.

Slipping the clutch = When you rev to say 4k, and then slowly letting the clutch out not punching it until you feel that your tires grabbing and then punching it (like how you drive normally at a stop light everyday)

Dumping the clutch = When you rev to say 4K and then let go of the clutch right away which will cause you to peel out like a mo fo and causes wheelhop and or premature wear to some suspension pieces.

Hope that helps.

yea dude I get killer wheel hop when I launch or the tires sit there and spin w/o me going anywhere. But I just found out my transmission is blown so gonna be puttin in a new transmission and clutch, so the clutch should help since I still have a stock setup, thanks for the explanations dude.

my thoughts too rubbersidedown. i ran a 15.070 stock cept 225/40/17. you just gotta kind of slip it thru first, and maybe even into second.....if its that hard, get a phantom grip installed/quaife LSD installed. bwith a t-25 shift about a grand below redline because the t25 wont give much power past that.
