Hi,

What think about of engine managements HKS F con V pro 3.0 , a new greddy e manage ultimate????

Hardware,software easy or hard?
harness,good or no??

Thanks.

Can you elaborate on your horsepower goals some? Thats plays a big factor in it.

If your asking about whats the best no matter money of skills, then aem ems. If its for an average person then DSMlink. For starters maybe an AFC or even a Keydiver chip. These ways to tune have been proven in the DSM world and will work just fine.

I would never recommend the AEM EMS to anyone. Those things are pieces of shit. The quality control is ####ing horrible.

I have seen and read about at least 5 AEM units failing and at least 10 with failing injector drivers.

it true what are your HP goals because running an SFAC or DSMLINK(ECMTUNING) may be better then the HKS or GReedy E Manage...the SFAC and DSMLINK they are easier to self tune if needed to. DSMLINK would most likely be able to offer everything that you prob need in tunning and getting your car where you want it to be.... it all depends on ## goal.....PS AEM EMS is a piece ofOMG... it cost more to tune at certain DYNO's just becasue only some are able to have personal on site that can tune AEM EMS.... things tend to not hold up together with the AEM EMS and overall DSMLINK was Gods gift to the DSM world!!! DSMLINK all the way if your going big!!!

I won't even comment on what you wrote.

The OP has been talking about making a 800whp setup in his other threads he posts in.

I would not suggest DSMLink for this.

Tune it by a professional.

Greddy E-manage ultimate is no where as advanced as AEM EMS or Motec. HKS FCon-V PRO is a really nice standalone, but because it requires a certified HKS-FCON tuner to touch it, it makes it useless for someone that is constantly adjusting their seutp. As well, there are very few people in the world that are HKS-certified PRO tuners. Look to see if there are any in your country before purchasing this product as the user is not able to tune it without the Registration Key and the PRO-tuner information.

It is much easier to adjust your tune by knowing the software and doing it yourself or by a professional tuner on a dyno.

I would recommend AEM EMS if you want a good product at a good price, and want to use your stock wiring harness with no modifications.

MoTeC is expensive, and requires you to do a full new harness connector. It takes alot of time and should be done by a professional. It is a great product, but it is more than necessary for most people's setups. If you were a FULL RACE CAR with professional-level intentions, then sure, MoTeC is something I would look into. Otherwise, save yourself some money and alot of time by purchasing an AEM EMS. Version 2 is coming out here shortly and has much better features than the first one, with increased datalogging capabilities and more resolution for tuning maps. The case is also 1/2 the size and uses patch cables for easy connection. It will also have a USB and FireWire cable plug-in's on the standalone EMS case.

Good luck with your setup!

I didn't know his goals were 800hp+. If that was the case, then you might as well get a good standalone such as Motec, Haltech, Microtech...etc.

There is also a new standalone out (at least in the supra community) called the Pro-EFI that supra owners seem happy with.

I hope for the love of god, the new V2 AEM has better quality control.

if i was you go with a gredy e manage, aem, motec or i heard of some ppl using megasquirt o heard its not bad

i got a friend making some serious power and he is using megasquirt he says he loves that thing and it is cheaper than aem and greddy

Thanks for your good councils twicks69 and all members

I d'ont want use a stock wiring harness. Why requires a certified HKS-FCON tuner to touch ?Can i touch myself a HKS-FCON???why registration key???i dont understand

Yes motec is expensive, but this a good matérials (connectors,harness.....)

Thanks.

For the HKS ECU systems, I been told by many supra people that you need a HKS certified tuner in order to use it. I am not 100% sure why.

As for Motec, you need to purchase a software key from them in order to tune the unit.

I have seen a few megasquirt systems and they seem to work very well. Same thing about Microtech and Haltech.

What you need to do is decide what features you need and want vs. the price. Some ECUs have features that others don't and that is what separates them in the long run.

HKS FCON PRO REQUIRES a key code registered with HKS to tune; ONLY HKS certified tuners (HKS PRO DEALERS) are able to touch it. HKS likely did it this way because the vehicle owner would not be liable for destroying the car due to tune; it would be the responsibility of the tuner to have it properly setup on a dyno. For the record, I believe there are only a handful of HKS certified tuners in the entire United States. I have no idea if there is even one certified HKS PRO Dealer in France.

If you are looking at full standalones, while completely removing your harness and building your own (which takes ALOT of work), you will be best off with a universal Honda AEM EMS (much cheaper than the vehicle specific AEM), and purchase a patch cable and completely wire your own car. As well, I would use a Painless Wiring harness (Painless Performance: The Official Home Page For The Best In Automotive and Diesel Performance Products) as you will be able to make it as simple, or as difficult as you want.

If you go with MoTeC and a custom harness, you will likely have a much larger amount of money invested in the end product.

Yeah thats why I told him he needs to decide the features he wants. I have a M4 sitting in my garage that I might use or sell. I probably sell it because DSMLink is much easier to use and the road more traveled. I am not planning on pioneering anything in the DSM world....just trying to get a sweet daily driver.

I've tuned a F Con on a 20b'd rx7 and its a pretty easy interface IMO.
AEM CAN be a PITA but there's a reason everyone uses it.
Motec=expenisve
Greddy is okay but for the money you can buy a dsmlink, fcon, aem, etc.

DSM Link is not what you want for 800whp......sure you can do it, but why would you trust it to something worth that much money?

If you're building an 800hp car the price of a stand alone shouldnt be an issue.

EDIT: I didnt mean i've tuned an fcon, i meant the apexi power fc....my bad

THATS A FIRST. If it depended on my life then i would choose AEM. Its plug and play, and cheap compared to other standalones. The only problem(just like any standalone) is that you have create the map, but it does come with maps to start with and to turn the car on. Just look at how many people run AEM and what they do, and what they have accomplished. There does not exist something better.
