Going to the track for the first time
I'm going to be leaving in about 2 hours to go to the drag strip and race for my first time ever. I am a little nervous about the whole tech inspection process as I don't know what to do. But other than that, I am looking foreward to having a fun time.
Any last minute tips, or suggestions?

Make sure all your lug nuts are on and tight. Usually you must have a battery tie down. Try different launch RPMs, to see where you get the best launch. Other than that, have fun and go back often. Just my .02.

Go at the last yellow light and not the green. It will help you with your reaction times.
Good Luck!!!

Looks like your cars fairly stock, so tech inspection should be pretty simple for you. They Look for things like battery tie down, coolent overflow, etc. Like said, on the last yellow start to go. If you wait for the green, you'll be sleeping at the line.

You going to CF raceway?? well anyways sweet but dont worry you dont do nothin when they and then you can park and let the car cool and while your car is cooling check out what everyone else is running. Then when your ready go to the staging lanes and they will pair you up with someone or something like that and then you pull up and no burn out if you got an awd even a fwd because regular tire wont hook if you burn out just roll up and then go on the last yellow light because it takes a second to get the car moving. launch at diff RPMS and shift qiuck. also make sure you let the car cool if you are using stock turbo because you will end up wearing the sh** out of it i did that to my old 2g and your car will perform better also.

Yep, CF raceway for the friday fun night. Then tomorrow for the midnight mania thing.
Hope I don't break the car.
BTW, just out of curiosity, where do they inspect the cars? I went there a while ago, and saw no place for the inspection. IDK, sorry im a nub.

Wow, I did horrible. My first time- RT=.567 60'=2.41 (let off clutch too hard) 1/8= 10.66 1/4= 16.42 mph=84.44
On the second run when I shifted into second and hit boost, I heard a sound like letting the air out of a balloon slowly. My parent's in the stands said they saw black smoke. I am pretty sure it is a boost leak, as my uicp is held together by rubber tabe and a t-clamp. I couldn't get past 5psi, on the way home either. The weird thing is, my car idled fine. I just hope it's nothing else.
All in all though, it was very fun. Even if I did only make two shitty passes.

its ight i mean its your first time i sucked when it was my first to. but it does sound like a boost leak do you still have the stock bov?? if so get a 1g bov those dont leak boost there good for 20 psi when crushed. check turbo and see if you got play shaft. i used to have a 2g talon also and it used to have the same problem and would boost all retarded.

My car has the 14b turbo, and when I checked the shaft play when first bought it, there was absolutely none. It was nice and firm.
I also have the stock 2g bov, the 1g one is on the list. Right after I get my oil pressure gauge fixed.

Sounds like a Boost leak, and you learned a valuable lesson. Always makes sure your car is in tip top shape before going to the track, or any weaknesses will be exposed and ruin your night...

I was planning on running Saturday, but didn't due to a bad oil leak on my valve cover and my vc gasket. I spent all day today fixing it, and it's good to go now. I got my boost leak fixed yesterday too. So right now I'm planning on going this next Friday, if nothing happens to my car between now and then.

Awds can be a bit quick just being stock i know my friend last year he ran 13.8 with just mbc and full exhaust at 16 on 93 oct. and k&N filter.
I hope you do better next time i sure you will just try lauching it out in the street where theres a good place to get used to it and start from low rpms and work your way up thats how i learned before i went and race.

Nice! How much abuse will a brand new stock clutch take though?

Well I didnt resurface the flywheel. I would have to wait at least 15 mins between runs. I ran faster with the clutch slipping a bit than holding all the way down the track.
If you can make it this friday head to Cordova in the qc's I will be there with my new baby if I can get her ready.
its from 11-2 am with a flag girl contest with most of them getting topless
I hope hit the 12's but we will see.

that sounds very convincing, but i'm a little scared to take my car that far. I'll see though.
