Couple more passes on the talon new best 8.83@164mph

Took the talon back out to the track for more testing. Track prep was junk as it was a highschool/import event, with all the street tires running on the track it would tear the track prep to shit. Best 60ft. I could muster was a 1.499. 1st pass of the day the car got crossed up pretty bad through 1st and 2nd gear, I went ahead and stuck my foot to the floor and went for shit. With a 1.59 60ft lighting up all 4 through 1st and 2nd gear I managed a 9.00 @164mph

Few pics of the car at the track and our pit area.

Got back to the pits and dropped the tire pressure down some more and took some boost out of 1st gear via the AEM EMS. Still only using the nitrous for spool out of the hole to get her going. This was on 41-42lbs of boost. It was pretty warm yesterday with the weather being at mid 70's with pretty high humidity.
Came back down and ran this.

60ft. 1.499
330ft. 3.918
1/8th. 5.825
mph 130.90
1000 7.465
1/4 8.839
mph 164.53

After this pass we loaded up and went home.

Video of the 2 passes.

enjoy!

Shep racing dogbox transmission. I'm lifting on all shifts. Although I can shift this things just as fast as NLTS to be honest with ya, boost never fell in the negatives between shifts, it would stay around 5lbs of boost between shifts. Shifts according to the logs are .089 seconds

I think if I did the NLTS the car would get out of hand since this thing makes so much mid range TQ.

I just noticed you have awesome paint on that thing, but you have the dreaded 1/4 panel dent, I almost beat an excoworkers ass for leaning on my car a few months ago on that issue.

What are you using for cooling? Filled block?
What has changed since you were running 600awhp+ like a year ago as far as shortblock?

Just kidding, awesome time. Can't wait for MIR, if you haven't been there before, it's a great track with good track prep.

Yeah some jackass backed into it a couple of years ago in a parking lot, never got anything out of the guy. I hope to have it fixed soon, it's not too bad really so I haven't bothered with it. Every time I save money to fix it I end up buying something for the motor or the sort

The motor is a full wet block, not filled yet. As far as changes since the 600whp, man where do I start? I've had the 42r setup for since last year. I have a thread up on DSMtalk talking about this years build. You can view it here. It's a long one so you will be reading it for awhile haha. Thought I would throw up a project log of the evil~eagle. - DSMtalk Forums

Awesome pictures and video Jake! That is one clean car. I can't way to see you run at MIR! Hopefully the weather will be good and that there will be a lot of people there to cheer you on.

Do you happen to know what equipment the photo/video person is using?

Thanks for the kind words! And I hope the weather will be good too. We are very excited to come over to MIR. Should lots of fun and I look forward to meeting alot of new people and putting names to faces.

I'm not sure what camera he is using, I can ask him though. I will get back to ya about it. The video on the other hand was from my camera. I used just WMV to upload it real quick. The larger videos I use Magix movie edit pro for higher quality videos.

Man, looking at the pics under the hood of your car, it looks like at least $20 million. Lol. Glad to know you're doing well. Definitely makes me wanna hit the track next weekend. Guess I'll be motivated to get it back together this week. Heck, my goal right now is just to hit 6's in the 1/8th on my fwd. Can only imagine 5's.

Question, do you know how much lighter those rods are over the steel rods you were using? Would be concerned about stalling from the light rotating assembly. Do you just bump up the idle or something else?

Great job Jake, I have always felt when the car feels like the tires are ready to start spinning it turns into a good pass. Take some balls to stay in the pedal though. Great job and the car looks great!!!!Bill
