2G 16" Wheel/Slick Combo
Does anyone know what wheel/tire combo well work on a 2G, I want to find a set of slicks for my car but need to clear my Willwood brakes and I'm 99% sure a 15" won't. Thanks Ron

An inexpensive combo would be 16X7 or 16X8 Rota Slipstreams with a 26X9.5 Hoosier Quicktime slick. Very light weight.

Yes they will. 26x9.5x16 on a 16x7.5 with a 45mm off set. You will need a small spacer on rear. And that is with Willwood brakes.

Ron, was curious which Wilwood setup you are running? I to am looking for slicks or drag radials but wasn't sure if a 16" rim would clear my Wilwood kit. I tried a stock set of GST rims & was left with something like 1mm clearance between the caliper & outer portion of the rim.

That is exactly what I run, and have had good success with them. I have had to use a 3mm spacer on the rear hubs to clear the spindles.

Also, where i picked up mine.
The slicks I purchased from Summit.
I am also running a wilwood 12.2" 4-piston setup with forged superlites, no clearance issues at all.
I am NOT running tubes in mine, just tarred the hell out of them during the tire installation onto the rim.

The forged superlites are a Wilwood product.
I cannot remember where I picked up the wheel spacers; it was from a vendor that specializes in 3000GT's.
here's an e-bay auction for some universals:

I've got a nice set of 5mm spacers from Supercar-Engineering. They also sell 3mm spacers. They are not really proper hub centric, but they fit MUCH better than anything universal you can buy. I've ran them on my car for several thousand miles without any issue.
There is really no need for hub-centric-anything as long as you use self centering lug nuts.

Thanks for the info in my thread. Do you think instead of 3mm spacers I would be better to order 16*7 45mm offset for the fronts and 16*8 48mm offsets for the rear? That should eliminate the need for spacers correct?

Are there any springs that will still allow you to run a 26" tires on a 2g? The parts car I bought came with a set of Koni yellows so I would like to use them w/o going to a ground control set up.

What is the clearance issue, between the tire & the knuckle? If so, going to a 48mm offset is going to make the issue even worse, as it tucks the rim further in. If you need more clearance between the tire & the knuckle you want to run a smaller offset to push the tire further out (closer to the fender)
