Who would win with a stock 97 GST VS. 2000 VW Jetta VR6 w/CAI?

My friend has a 2000 Jetta VR6, and is quite arrogant about his speed. Granted his car is fast, but it's not the fastest vehicle on the street like he sometimes acts like it is. He has a lowered suspension, and a CAI on a car that has stock 174HP@6000rpm, w/ 184 lbs torque@3000rpms. I just got my 97 GST yesterday (after totally my 98GS, thank God!), and it is damn fast. Of course I told him stock specs on a GST are 210HP(I heard 190WHP)@6200 rpms, and 214lbs. torque@3200 rpms. Even though we drove together yesterday, and when I was in front of him and would hit the gas and seem to leave him, he still is swearing up and down that from the line we would either be neck, and neck, or that he even can still beat me. For those of you that are more educated in our cars rivals, what do you think? Personally, I think I already know the answer, but I'm trying not to be as arrogant as he is, or underestimate my competition. BTW, hello, and I'm glad I FINALLY got a TURBO!!!! :thumb:


Edit: We would have raced yesterday, but there was so much holiday traffic, that it was just too dangerous. We made a schedule for this Saturday when the traffic is a bit less congested.
 
How bout you find a good "LOW TRAFFIC" strip and you two just go at it. Then the ####-talker could talk his ####. The GS-T should get the victory but it could be all in the driver.

Sorry again for the late response. We raced just 2 days ago, and it was a good match from the line, but when I hit third gear, I pulled about 2 feet ahead of him, and from there on, he couldn't catch up. When we got to the end, I had pulled about a half of a car length away total. (remember, I'm still stock) So now, he hasn't been talking too much smack anymore. I think I could have done even better, but I spun tires a little bit at launch. Now I can't wait to do my mods. Next month I'm getting an upgraded UIC pipe w/Greddy Type-S BOV, then I'm going to get an intake the month after. I'm getting the upgraded pipe first cause the Injen intake I want comes in two styles: With, or without an upgraded BOV on your car. I can't afford both since that first combinations is $475, but slowly I'll get there. Thanks again for the replies guys.
