So i decided to take my new setup to the track tonight to see what it can do. I have 4300 miles on the new motor/trans, and only about 5-600 miles with boost (internal wastegate issue during motor break-in).
Anyways, i havent really driven the car hard or done any launches or tuning so i kind of just wanted to get out to the track to figure out where my tune was and my driving habits. I havent put my methanol injection, injectors, AFPR, MBC or rewired my pump yet, i threw all my other bolt-ons back on and just went to the track to run at 10psi wastegate pressure the entire night.

Relevant mods for those who are too lazy to check out my mod list ( i know i always am!)
Fresh 2.0 skat/weisco 8.3, Balance shafts eliminated as well as A/C. DKS 264/272, manley springs, stock reground valves and mild head portwork (removed castings)
2G Mas, Dejon intake, Extreme PSI street FMIC, 2g exhaust mani (unported) New Logics Racing custom 2.5" o2 housing (ebay knock off 38mm external DTA) and a 2.5" DP first bend to 3" flex section back exhaust with a 3" high flow cat. TRE budget rebuilt trans. Small 16g bullseye housing (previously internal 38mm wastegate, but that broke so its converted to external now)
DSMLink was all zeroed out fuel and timing wise unless otherwise stated.

1st run, DSMLINk didnt want to log for me so i just went ahead and ran the 1/4 mile anyways. [email protected] 2.08 60 ft (Horrible, i know, i havent launched my awd in probably 6 months and im still getting used to launching with the fidanza) 5000 rpm studderbox. My knock CEL was set to 3 degrees and didnt show its face through the run. My PLX stayed at a steady 10.6 though the run so i decided to lean it out 1% and add a few degrees of timing up top. Bad Idea

Run #2 [email protected] 2.09 60 foot (damn!!! i need to launch harder!) 5250 rpm studderbox. Knock CEL came on in 2nd gear, let off and hopped back on the gas, shift to 3rd, knock CEL comes on, let off and hop back on the gas, shift 4th... ehh probably a bad run i think to myself. Get back to the pits and i decided to zero timing and fuel back out. Now its time to work on the damn 60ft!

Run #3 [email protected] 1.92 60 foot. ( a little better launch, but it spun out of the hole) 5500 rpm studderbox. There was a little knock on this run, but the CEL didnt flash. So time to get rid of the knock. I added a little fuel where the knock started, and i had a bad dip in timing at like 5800 rpm, so i bumped up a few degrees of timing from 6500 and up. (thanks for the tuning help dave)

Run #4 Time to put your dial in on the window and bracket racing starts. I dial in at 13.8, i figure if i mess up, i'll probably still win the race b/c im fast off the tree, and if i break out then i'll go home happy. Again, 5500rpm studderbox
Dial - 13.80
R/T - .086
60' - 1.881 (a little better, but still needs work)
330' - 5.618
660' - 8.747
MPH - 79.28
1000 - 11.436
MPH - ?????
1/4 - 13.731
MPH - 98.38
Once i ran down the other car and new i had passed it, i could have let of or tapped breaks and easially been right at my dial in, but hey, i wanted to see what the car had in her! Like i said, a few more runs and more chances of breaking something, or breaking out of my time and leaving satisfied, i chose the latter.

Overall it was a good night. I broke out at the end, but i got my shakedown runs out of the way. My goals were to run consistent 14's all day and really work on launching my car. I didnt want to go over 2.0 60ft, but hey, its been 6 months! I havent dogged my car on the street because i just put too much money into it to have the cops take my car away from me for being a dumbass driver on the streets. I was very happy that i made two 13 second passes, i really didnt expect this from the car at 10psi. My previous best from last year before i blew the engine and had a nasty trans that didnt like the 1-2 shift at all was a 13.5 @101.7 at 20psi spike dropping down to 15psi. I now know that 12's should be easy for me once i throw my injectors, fpr, mbc, and rewire my fuel pump. I still have to work on my shifting and launching, but hey it was only my first trip of the season!

*Edit* my friend wanted me to post up results and have people guess what psi of boost i was running, but i was too lazy to re-type a new thread so i just copied my thread from the DSMLink forums.... sorry Dave!

*EDIT#2* My friend Dave has video's of the runs, kind of hard to see after 1st and 2nd gear because its just a handheld digicam, but better than nothing, if he doesnt post em up on this thread i'll eventually link to whatever thread they are in

Thanks bro, No creep, my JayDEEm knock off tial 38mm wastegate held solid to redline. Best trap tonight was 98.3 mph ... the 101.7 was from last years best time of 13.5.

Yeah i was pretty suprised i did so well at 10psi. The top end sucks ass, i cant wait to turn up the boost! Just gotta order new o-ring seals, or go to satan to get em, then im all good for as much boost as my 660's will handle. My goal for this season is to hit mid 12's at least with the 16g, then its time to upgrade my turbo, and possibly injectors.

Here is my dsmlink log for the fastest run. I pretty much ran out of fuel with the 450's. Timing dropped once i hit 99.9%IDC and it seems as though the knock throughout the run was from the 11:1 afr on 91 octane with the stock timing map and higher compression pistons.

I cant wait to throw my denso 660 injectors in along with my fuel rail and FPR, then rewire the pump and throw in some BPR7ES plugs and i should be ready to tune for 18-20psi on 91 and maybe a couple more psi if i feel like driving to fill up with 100 octane.

Your car is VERY ready for more fuel and more boost!
I don't have the vid posted yet, I've never posted one before so it'll take a day or two. I watched it several times and I can see the car launch nice and hard.

Yes the car sure is! As am I

Thanks Dave, no worries man, take your time with the video. Im still anxious to see it again, too bad we cant really see the end of the 1/4 though. You should post up that el camino video for $hits and giggles, that was a crazy race!

Vid is up! http://youtube.com/watch?v=Jo3tkRclSSg
This is bracket racing, so the slow car is supposed to go first, but you're not supposed to catch and pass it so early. :nono:

and just for fun, check this out this run done later that night. It's dark, so crank up the brightness and contrast on your monitor. It looked OK on the digicam, but somehow the quality got worse when it was transfered 3x. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-TBBG66IQI

Right on Dave! That 1.8 60ft looks pretty damn nice from that view. I cant wait to get some 1.7' short times followed by 12 sec 1/4 mile times on video later in the season. Thanks for postin that up! Next time we go im going to borrow a better camera from my friend.
