ok practice makes perfect i know but geez

last night was the first time i took my turbod GS to the track since i put in the stage 3 clutch and porfueler. I finally got it running good on the street and all the vacuum/idle kinks worked out and decided it was time to go

it was like a whole new car on the line

first run i didnt want to spin so i bogged, picked back up and no gas shifted to second, let out on the clutch and punched the throttle, tires started spinning.

next run
slipped the clutch enough to not bog first, eased into second and punched it at 3K rpms and the tires still started spinning

overall best run of the night was

a 15.3 at 104 MPH

yeah thats not a typo 104 MPH.

my buddy took his camaro SS with him and he ran a 12.9 at 110
so the speed is there i just need to launch a lot different

I think you did fine considering that it takes time to get used to a new combo. The car is obviously capable of running much better 1/4 mile times, but you'll need some traction to get it to live up to it's potential. You may want to look into an LSD, beefier axles and some sticky drag radials or even slicks to get the most out of it.

Other than that, practice will make perfect but you'll always struggle with the traction issues. Nevertheless, it sounds like a great ride and the traps tell me you're making plenty of power. Get it to stick and you'll have one wild ride.

Keep at it!

Andy

everything takes gettin used to man. don't worry about it you'll get it. nice traps!!!

Don't worry about it, we all struggle the first time out with a new setup or car. Some better tires would help with traction a lot. You already have suspension and motor mounts so that's a good start. Update us when you get to run again and you should be in the 13's!

i took the plunge this weekend and bought a neon tranny and decided to be the guinea pig and get the OBX LSD

once these are on hopefully my 60' time will drop dramatically

just as soon as i find a write up on how to drop the old tranny that is actually understandable

hey man, it was your first seat time in the newly equipped car...it will def. take time to get used to. Watch i beet next time you go out you'll hit a 14.xx no problem. My advice to give you...if you wish to try it out. I have never gotten a worse 60ft. than 2.18 on street tires in my fwd dsm, my g/fs, my roomates srt, or his g/f GTV6 tiburon. Anyways. try holding the throttle around 3000rpm. Slip the clutch about half of the way through. dont just dump it. and dont try and feather the throttle...you dont spend enough time in 1st for it to really matter, besides feeling a few jerks from the quick reaction of the throttle. you might even want to just hold a steady 3/4 throttle. Its okay to have some screech/spin. Then lift shit second and just slam it in. If you are still spinning like crazy at this time. You REALLY need better tires. If you profile is accurate then even without LSD on a properly prepped track you should get some type of traction. then from there on do your thing.

i know practice makes perfect and i really didnt expect too much i am actually kinda just glad nothing blew up or broke with all the new stuff i have on

i really need to get to the dyno so i can update my hp and torque on my profile

what killed me was even grandmaing 1st and then no gas shifting into second and waiting to 3Krpms and then punching it the tires would still spin

i have the stutter box on my msd working and set to hold at 3500 but i wanted to practice with it more before i tried it at the track

LOL I was going to say, does he weigh like 2200-2500 pounds? Haha

He is probably making roughly 250-270WHP to get those trap speeds.

2.9 60' is just awful... A bad 60' is typically 2.3 or more, so even with some average bad 60' times your car should be in the high 13's low 14s.

Those are old, he ran the 104 on a different setup.

yeah i havent updated my profile since i put in the portfueler

the 222whp was on a stage 2 kit running 7 psi

i havent taken the car to a dyno yet to find out what its doing now

Not sure about the DSM crowd but my friend drives a Honda and he has some tracktion (sp?) bars and says they made a world of difference. He cuts 2.0-2.1 60' and runs high 13's at around 98. Also what tire pressure are you running? Anything over 2.5 isn't good, not to be an ass but you need some practice.
