It's been a long season trying to break into the 13's, but today I finally did it. Best run of 13.65 @ 103.75 mph with race gas. My previous best on pump gas was 14.028 @ 100.61 mph.

Awesome track prep and the addition of race gas got me there. Consistant 2.1 - 2.2 60fts for a FWD. If I can do it on all season kuhmo's (set at 25 psi), you other FWD drive guys should be able to do it with summer tires.

Free mods, 17 psi, 2.5 turboback w/ cat, 190 fuel pump re-wired, K+N, Pocketlogger. That's about it. The race gas cured my knock issues.

Here are my best three runs:

Thanks for the compliment.

No AFC. Stock 450's and 14b. Injectors and AFC are next on the list. That's why I had to run race gas. On pump I'm seeing about 15+ counts of knock, which kills the top end. Like I mentioned my highest trap on pump was 100 mph. I think I could have gotten a little more out of her today with some sort of fuel control.

Great Job! I am extremely impressed with that time with your limited mods. Now get her in the 12's :thumb:

your my idol, LOL. With a good clutch and some good driving i would hopefully be in the 13's aswell. i have about the same mods and a FMIC, 2g throttle body elbow & 2 1/2" intercooler piping.

I got lucky. The sixty foot times really helped. Unfortunately, 12's won't come for a long, long time. I just don't have the power to get there yet. I figure I have to trap above 110 to have a chance on street tires. And with more power, those sixty foots are only going to get worse.

Wow thats a great time man, how did u launch? I have pulled one 2.19 out of the few times i have been to the track. If you don't mind sharing let me know how you launched.

SubieKiller,

It depends on the track prep. On bad days, I launch around 3500 rpm, slipping the clutch and never going WOT in 1st, usually pulling 2.3 with an occasional high 2.2. On good track prep days, around 3800-4000 rpm, slipping the clutch, usually getting a 2.2 with 2.1 every now and then. Sometimes I feel lucky and try going WOT in 1st gear on good days, but that always leads to massive hop that shakes the car so much my windshield wipers on. Always good for the spectators.

I don't know how differently the FWD 2G's launch with the T25, which spools at a lower rpm from my experience. Also, every car is different.

Yup. It's going to quit on me anyday now. That thing has taken a lot of track passes.

same thing here man, 17lbs a few counts of knock after a few pulls when the stock smic, i orderd a fmic so hopefully that will help it out, the first pull on a cold night is always no knock then second and third pull starts knocking alot. Good times man, I put a new clutch in last week so hopefully after the painfull 700 miles ill be running some decent times at the track.
Ryan

nice job man. are you full wieght? now get a afc and come catch me my fastest so far is 13.2 @ 109 but thats with drag radials and a 1.9 60ft. what was the temp and how high above sea level are you? o and i dont have a exhaust system but i do drop the cat at the strip

Yup. I'm full weight other than taking the spare and jack out. 1/4 tank of gas. I run my full exhaust at the strip.

The temp was about 55 with the sun shining. Sea level, according to Wikipedia, is any from 700-800 feet.

h3o, that is a nice trap speed for the mods. Still on the 14b? Does an afc really help out that much?

You would be able to get your ecu to take out fuel at the rpm range your datalogger show's your knocking, helping you out a lot!! How much will it get you in the qt mile, who knows?? But w/ out knock, you're timing would keep on rising as rpm's go up, and you could probably hit some decent mid-high 13's on pump gas...Good luck, you are an inspiration to lightly modded dsmers

I've never played around with an AFC, but wouldn't I want to add fuel in the rpm range where I'm knocking?

with race gas and leaning out the top end i gained about 4 mph on the top end

it also helps that im at 2550lbs also i am on stock injectors and a 255 with a afpr i took out 2 psi of fuel on the afpr and advanced it 2 degrees and also i took out 5-7% from 3500 up and i have no knock anywhere.

o forgot i am also on the 14b and 20psi dropping to 18 at around 5500. ya your pretty close to my times just tune and lose a little wieght and im sure youll surpass me you seem like a better driver then my fat ass hahaha

Looks like an AFC is definetely the next thing I'll get. Leaning out on the top end? Looks like I'll have to do a little more research on the AFC and fuel control in general. I've always thought my knock issues were from lack of fuel. h3o, I still think that's an amazing time and trap for stock injectors.

Good guess Ivan. Running Kuhmo ASX all seasons, 205, 55, 16. Decend tread yet, just got them last fall. Being street tires, I never do burn outs. Just drive around the waterbox and squeal them a little to clean them off.

ya i tried to lean the car out till i sean no knock i was actually running rich at the higher rpm range thats the reason why i made the correction.

Yeah your launching techniques are similar to mine. My car hops and shakes a lot when I launch, and I have also had a few times where the windshield wipers came on haha. I happen to have to race at Sacramento Raceway where track preperation is horrible. Good times though man!

When track prep is bad, I always feel cheated. I use to always go on Sport Compact days, but I think they could care less about the track on those days.

Now I'll only go on days when it's open to all cars, because those old mucle cars really heat the track up nice while laying a nice amount of rubber down. In addition, the crew actually takes their time to prep the track in between sessions.

Of course, every track is different and Rock Falls Raceway is the only place I've ever drag raced.
