Ok today was my first time at the track and im very confused about my results... I was hoping for mid 8's... best E/T was 10.1!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a ported FP big t28 with about 15psi, open catback, Greddy Type S bov, DejonTool UICP and intake pipe, and BFGoodies Gforce KDW's..
FIrst run 2nd (tried to drop clutch at 3k) 3rd(dropped at 3kish)
R/T .622 .7969 .8110
60ft 2.6189 2.5121 2.4331
330ft 6.97 6.7521 6.6029
ET@594FT 9.9620 9.7122 9.4721
1/8 ET 10.6357 10.3921 10.1280
MPH 66.79 66.17 68.61

Now i KNOW i have to improve my 60ft, i know this b/c i have grippy tires and i didnt have much if any wheel spin when i dropped the clutch at 3k+rpms. Im sure i could have gotten into the 9's if i had more time to stay but i didnt. I think i also need to run an open dp but i see other members without exhaust mods with faster 1/8 mile times than me, and they are runnin high 14's.. i should not be this slow, what are all of your opinions on this? however im happy bc i beat every car i raced against :thumb: (crazy toyota matrix lookin car, truck, and civic respectively) Well let me know what you all think... im also glad i improved my times each time i ran. i plan to go next friday and see what i can do about this.

Yeah, I'd have to say it is mostly your 60' times that are killing you. You could take a whole second off of your 1/8 if you would drop your 60' down to 2.2 or 2.1 which I have seen done in a FWD with a 14B. It could be track conditions as well. Two weeks ago, it was cold and rainy at the track and I couldn't hook up until the end of 2nd gear, but a month before that I would hook up at the start of 2nd pretty hard because it was nice and hot which warmed up the track a lot. Driver error could be part of it too. Practice, practice, practice.

first, dropping the clutch is bad.... you'll need to learn how to slip the clutch out...

second, your mph sucks, indicating low horsepower... make sure everything is running ok.

well when i had no tire i was able to get a 9.5 1/8 with a 2.3 60 ft. is it spinning alot in 2nd? if so, need to be carefull with the throttle, i couldn't believe how bad it was when i first went, spun all day long. And the water Box IS NOT YOUR FRIEND when u have stock tires, go around it

Good Luck running mid 8's on a FWD car without some DR's or slicks. Just trying to state reality. When I had a big28, the best I could manage was a 9.2@82 with a 2.2 60ft at 17psi. You definately have some tuning and or mechanical issues with a 6x trap. If you have the resources, I would highly recommend taking the car to a dyno and checking your a/f. Do you have a logger?

i dont have a logger but there is a local shop i can go to, to get my car dyno tuned, i might look into that, but its like 100bucks/hr. ill have to save up my paychecks LOL

Your car is basically slower than a bone stock eclipse in the 1/8th.

My old Talon info is still posted in my profile... look at the mods and look what it ran, you should be faster than that.

Im in the same boat.......sinking. I ran worst my second time around @ Englishtown this past friday night. my 60' were between 2.5-2.7. My first time at the track, i ran a 14flat with a horrible 60' on street tires. Like someone said b4....practice practice practice. My problem is that I am afraid of riding my clutch @ such high rpm.....so i dump it too early and bog down to 3000rpm (no boost). But now I think i got the concept down. With my setup, I should be running mid 13s on street tires all day.

1 question, could a boost leak possibly cause my poor times? im hoping thats all it is.... and would i even be able to tell just by driving my car that it has a boost leak, i do notice before the engine is warmed up if i hit boost it kinda gets sluggish during the boost , then jumps forward when it reaches higher boost.

Do a leak test. There a few bucks to make and as far as a a air compressor if you dont have one or know someone grab a friend and go to the gas station and do it there see where the leak is coming from and fix. Dont pay someone to tune your car take that 100 and get a logger and see whats going on then maybe go to the dyno. Even if you went to the dyno I didnt see anything to tune your car with so it would be pointless to go unless you just wanna see how much HP your making or not making
