Yeah, I went to the track this past weekend only to find that all the work I've done (with some help of some good friends), has only made my car "feel" faster. I replaced the timing belt and found that the old one was off a tooth. Also tightened up a few boost leaks. Finally threw in some BG Syncro after running the crap stuff for the new (not so new) clutch. My times didn't reflect any of this.

The shifting is still completely crappy and continues to get worse. I'm not sure that I can pick up a whole second from a smoother shifting tranny, but I know it will help. I obviously need more practice launching, as I couldn't seem to come close to breaking 2 seconds with my 60 ft time like I did last time I was at the track. I'll probably have to replace my clutch before I even come close to what the car is capable of.

You gotta have balls to own a DSM performance website and have a quarter mile time posted in your profile as poor as mine (14.2@95mph). The car has enough mods to run low 13's/high 12's, it just needs a new tranny and a driver. I probably won't go back to the track until I've got at least one of the two. I'm getting the pocketlogger set up soon, so at least I'll be able to see some data which should help.

I had to play some GT3 just to make myself feel better.

.3 on your short times accounts for the .6 on the et's. figure for every .1 you shave off your 60', you shave .2 of your ET's.

MPH could be a bunch of things. Car tune, how you launch, did you bog, etc etc.

I launched it easy this weekend with 1.9xx short times (mainly because I am a wuss) and ran 12.69 @ 110 and a 12.76 @ 112. This at 21psi on 100octane with the stock SMIC. Work on your short times and things will get better.

Or you could be like a lot of us old school guys (Sean and Nick come to mind on this board) and have a few DSM's, and the majority of them either don't run, or run shitty. I have two currently, one ran for the first time in a few months yesterday, for a whole 20 minutes.

Anyways back to topic.

When my 2g was running, and running good, it would have its good days and bad. Eventually I let it downgrade and run somewhat shittier, for about two months. I basically just drove the balls off of it to work and back every day. It was hot out, and I never cared much for it in the hot weather. Soon enough it, it needed a good waxing, engine needed cleaned, it had some leaks, and it felt slow. So, the parents ended up leaving town, I had a nice 3 car garage to myself, and I ripped it apart. I re-undercoated it, painted a bunch of stuff, washed and waxed it about 4 times in a week, fixed all the boost leaks, fixed exhaust leaks, re-routed wires/vacuum lines, cleaned the engine bay, new wires/plugs/fuel filter, etc. Alot of little #@%#@%#@%#@% which I had been letting slip by.

After spending a week on the car, I loved it again. I gained 6 mph in the traps again (2psi more boost, better tune, no more boost leaks), car felt nice again. Sometimes a little TLC is all these POS need ;).

I try not to let myself fall behind much anymore in car maintenance, but it's hard, you might only have one weekend a month to mess around, and it might rain or other #@%#@%#@%#@% might come up, hell I bought my 1g as a beater, and it blew a turbo. Next thing I know, it's down for 4 months for a project that should have taken 5 hours.

Good news is, I got a week off of work (possibly) for Thanksgiving, so y'all might be seeing some spy shots of the 2g. :)
