Last night I was able to make a direct comparison between a 14b and a Frank 5. I only got in two runs with very little traction. I actually thought that 1.82 60’ time was pretty good considering the traction. That was 11.52 @ 124.9 (compared to [email protected] on a 14b).

Otherwise, it was the same gas. Roughly the same traction and basically the same tunning. Though 14b boost was much higher on the Frank 5 (17psi vs ~25psi).

I get this feeling that Frank 5 would have had very similar trap speed and ET, if I had set boost to 17psi…

Unfortunately, my datalogger was not working. Given more tuning time where I can see what is going on, I can see getting extra 2-3 more mph out of it.

are you still running the kind of base/total timing you were running with the 14b? something like 40 degrees total?

nice times though....should get down to low 11s with a better 60 foot.......what clutch are you running btw?

Yes, I am still running the same base timing. My datalogger was not working so I am not sure how much ECU was giving me, but I am sure that it was not high as I was getting with the 14b. Probably more like 19-21 deg of advance by ECU.

I am using ACT 2600 w/street disc.

dang did you actually run 25 psi with the 14b? Did it actually hold that much boost or just spike and then settle to something lower?

were you running the same fuel as the old 14b runs? 110 leaded?

My 14b behaved very much like a T25. It really did not matter where I would set the boost, it would drop to 17psi by 6500-7000rpms :(. Some of it is due to a leaky intake manifold gasket. But I did not have time (or desire) to correct it before the end of season.

I was running CAM2 110 octane leaded gas. Though, I am not sure that I really needed it on a 14b, because even at ~40deg of timing there was ZERO knock. It would have been interesting to see just how fast I could have gone on pump gas. But I just did not have enough time and I do not really care about "pump gas" numbers.

I guess technically, CAM2 is pump gas, because it is sold from a regular pump at a regular gas station for $3.99/gal :).

dang 110 for 4$....the best we can get is 91 here, and a few have 100 octane unleaded for 4.80$ per gallon. Of course its different at the track, but pumps are far and few between that have anythiiing higher than our crapy 91...

Look around, you might be able to find a regular gas station that carries race gas. We have around 2-3 such stations which sell Cam2 with in 30 miles of my house. That is not close enough to fill up with it every other day. But still, not bad.

I would check with these guys: http://www.cam2.com/race gas.htm
