OK, Here's the story. My friend has a 93 Prelude Si that he swapped an H22 VTEC into and it has the following mods: CAI, Header, N1 Exhaust, Lightweight flywheel, clutch, and fuel and ignition mods. Well his best to date is a 15.2 w/ a 2.3 60 ft. I don't know his MPH though. I know this isn't that fast but his car has crazy top pend pull. Well the other night we got to #@%#@%#@%#@% talking and I bet him $150 I could beat him in my new car. Well my car is a 98 GSX 5 speed. Here's my only mods: Brode UIC w/ HKS SSQV and BCS removed. I won't have time to buy anything before the race so what other free or easy mods can I do. I figured I would take out the headlight and remove the bottom of the airbox, drain the tank to less than 1/8 and then put 3-5 gallons of race gas to prevent any knock and reset the ecu so adjusts to the race gas. Lastly I thought about just unbolting the downpipe before the cat. Is this ok to do? i don't care about the sound, if I get a ticket oh well because this race is mainly about dsm respect which no Honda drivers have in my town. Any help is greatly appreciated. I'll let you know the results.

Yes it's ok to unbolt the exhaust after the downpipe, it will be loud though

With all that done you should be able to take him pretty easily in the 1/4 mile

just know this, with a good driver, you own a sub 15second car. practice launching and shifting. on another note, with the h22a and those mods he is making more power than you are,and he should be in the high 13's with slicks.

Bah, overestimated H22a, what a joke. Dont worry man, if you're going from a stop and if you can launch, he's done for. Do you even have a boost controller? If not, get one asap and just turn the boost up to like 15 psi, drop the catback, and u're good to go. I went 15.2 in my Prelude Si H23non-vtec at 90 mph with a 2.3 60' also with just an intake and a 2.5inch catback. I guess the "vtec" kicks in with him, so he probably trapped at about 92 mph, which should be no problem to keep up with. The "mad top end" he has is "nothing compared to a turbo", as said by a Fellow H22a friend of mine after I was suppose to feel his "vtec" then he felt the turbo. We all know who's gonna win already, just don't bog it or miss a gear, slip the clutch, and whomp his honduhm ass for swapping his motor AND talking trash about DSMs. :D Oh yea, if you get a mbc(if u dont already got one), get a boost guage too ;) At MOST, he's making 170-175 whp in a 2865 lb car with about 145-150 ft/lbs which is nothing you have to be afraid of.

LOL i got into an argument with some who owns a 93 lude si lastnight and bet him 50 bucks i could take him. But he doesnt have the h22 he swapped in sumthing else its another JDM engine but its non vetec. dont ask me why he did this. So i told him next week we will run. LOL what little does he know next week i will crank the boost up to 15psi. oh well he started it.
