Hello, Im new here. I just bought a 95 Talon TSI FWD 5spd. about 2 weeks ago. Well I was going down the street and this guy I know pulls beside me in his 95 Mustang GT 5 spd. He asked me to race so I did. Any ways we slowed down to about 20 mph and punched it in 1st gear. He got about a half car jump on me at first. Then as soon as I hit second I gained about a quarter car back. Then I hit 3rd and pulled back even. We had to stop at about 80 cause there were cars ahead, but Im pretty happy considering the mods he has. He has an intake, exhaust(no headers), pulley, throttlebody, and gears. All I have is a K&N filter. So should this have happened or was it just luck? Let me know what yall think.

Sounds about right to me. You would kill him if u crank the boost up a bit though, but get a boost gauge b4 that.

Good kill. The outcome seems correct considering your almost perfectly stock. Stock DSM's are relatively slow, but once you start modding you'll be addicted to the gains that can be had. Happy modding :thumb:

I was wondering why you were tied in the end but then I reached this last part and realized why. those 95 gts came with a wimpy 215 hp from the factory in the 4.6l romeo, you say thats more then we have stock well stangs weight well over 3300. with the mods he had is the only reason why he cauht you in the end, with practice I wouldnt be suprised if youll pull better on him. Now if he has a 302 package, then he doesnt know how to drive, a 5.0 needs I/E to make even with a stock dsm, but what he has should put a car on you pretty easilly with a 5.0 302. either way sounds about right...

95 actually had the 5.0 in, 96 was the first year of the 4.6. 94 and 95 were slower than the fox bodies cause they weighed more. Those mods on the 5.0 make it pretty quick. My 87gt had the same mods and ran 14.1@99mph on street tires. Nothing OMG fast but quick enough at the time. This was the right outcome. Don't feel bad, MBC, I/E and you'll be right with him

I believe the 4.6l was offered then as the were abundent in lincolns and so on. The 5.0 was a option (302 option and badging). I also had a gt 87 with the grey groundeffects, with a built sport a/t tranny, exhaust ram air and pulley the thing would have put a car or so on a stock dsm. When I was a ford tech I drove many of the old 4.6l stangs and they were severly weak when compared to the old 5.0 and even more so to a gst/tsi.

But again I really think the 4.6l was offer in the stang in 95...im hell they were working on a obd 2(fords EEC 5) version in the licoln mark's and thunder chickens back in 93 and earlier. But then agian I may be wrong...its been a long time since I was a die hard stang fan and owner, hell I was a ford racing team member for about 6 years

yea, my auto GS-T got beat by a solid 2 cars by a 94 GT stang with cobra head. As soon as he got 2 cars though, i was with him, he couldnt pull anymore, not to mention we were going from a dig....i told him lets go from a roll but he didnt want to...at that time i just had an I and BOV

but now, i'm a full bolt on pushing 1.2 bar on high and 1.0 bar low, i beat a 01 GT stang from a roll by 2 cars...muahahahah Surge is my witness, he saw it.
