I need everyone's help that are against big 8-cylinder meat heads that they can do whatever the hell they want with their big ass gass guzzlin pieces of ^%#^. Anyway I work at an automotive store and i have a manager that is runnin his mouth about his car. He has a Monza that is runnin 5.92's. I have a 95 talon tsi awd. Well this saturday we are gonna race. I pulled off a 9.407 in the 1/8 the last time i ran. So he is gonna give me a 3.6 head start. The 9.407 was with a boost leak that i fixed on my t25, and i have done some other mods. I have taken the wastegate restrictor out and i have added a port and polished intake manifold along with a tune-up and a mobil 1 0w-30 oil change. Is there any other mods that i can do to my car for free or something cheap to help me out? What rpm should i launch at (no slicks)?, what rpm should a shift at in each gear (keep in mind an 1/8 mile track). Thanks guys and i hope that you all can help me out before satruday when i race.

mods:

- K&N filtercharger
- greddy type s blow off
- 2/3 downpipe
- hi flow cat
- bosch premium wires
- port and polished manifold
- magnaflow muffler

60 - 1.946
330 - 6.044
594 - 8.798
1/8 - 9.407
74 mph

Dude, no offense, but you're going to get ripped a new one.

5.9 in the 1/8th? I'm pretty sure I speak for everyone when I say that he can talk as much sh!t as he likes. Any car that quick definitely gets some respect. V8 or not.

Plus, running the stock t25 doesn't inspire much confidence. Be humble and work on getting your car running 12's in the 1/4...it's pretty tough to beat a 12 sec AWD car on the streets.

I guess the ONLY way to win is to ask him to run on street tires? Hopefully he'll spin like crazy and hit the wall or something. Other than that...enjoy the spanking! :p (Of course I'm just joking around with ya, don't take it personally)

He sadi the guy is going to be giving him a head start...geez guys give him a break. No doubt the monza is fast but he clearly stated what the case was... If you are really serious about this race then do the following:D :Build yourself a Manual boost controller for like 10$, strip your interior, remove your pass headlight for flow to your k/n, put in race fuel and run 15psi (as long as you are using 100+ octane) If he gives you a 3,6 second headstart and your cinfdent in your drivnig hten you should take him. Also Im not to familiar with the 1/8th mile tracks, but its not necessary to shift later then like 6500 with a t25 unless the 1/8th is like done by the top of second gear, in which case it might be better to hold 2nd gear till you finish:thumb:

Launch at 5500 rpm. Don't slip the clutch and don't just drop the clutch but let it out really fast. Do a boost leak check to make sure you have no leaks. That's about all I can tell ya. Good Luck

I really appreciate all of the help that u all gave me within the last week. Well i am sure some people are ready to here the results of the race. Well the results are pending b/c i told my manager that i was not going to race him in the begging if i did not have my torn half shaft fixed, well it was supposed,to co me in friday but didnt. It will be here in the middle of this week, and then we might race if he is up for it. I think that i will get him. i hope anyway i am gonna be givin it all that i have.

I also have a question about the headlight trick. Turbos suck in air, and with me taking the headlight out it would be raming the air instaed. Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

its a good thing colder air going into your engine, insted of sucking in high temps under the hood

hope ya take him. Best of luck.

good thing, these bracket type races even the playing field.

then after that race maybe you can take your cars to a road course and you can give him a handycap :D

or wait for a rainy day or some snow, etc. your car is more of a useable car, not just a special purpose, 1/4mile only toy.

Have fun

I appreciate the help guys. Well, after I got my hals shaft installed this weekend, and preped my car for the big race, he chickened out. He sais that he didn't want to bring his car out anymore this season becasue it was getting to cold. I laughed, and told him anytime next season i will take him. Yea I dare him to race me on a road course, that would be quite funny.
