Probe GT

Ok, I'm curious last night at the track I went up against a Probe GT. It kept up with me almost the entire time. I was only slightly ahead. Not counting driver error or anything. ( Nearly Stock Probe GT had CAI ). I was wondering since the car was a v6 2.5 liter would that be why he kept up. ( GT is rated at stock 164hp 160 lbs/tq ).

and for what its worth in my similarly modded old 1g that i used to own, I gave my buddy a car and ahalf head start in his probe gt...... didnt luanch, and i blew by him at 14psi, by the middle of 3rd gear....

Fix your car thats all i can say. I ran my Friends 95 GT with I/E/H and many other mods. When my car was stock, i blew past him as soon as i shifted to 2nd and when i left off i looked in my rearview and he was atleast 6-8 cars behind. Unless he had something major done, there is no way he should have kept up with u at all.

1) He could have been one helluva driver. And you're not.

2) Bigger displacement + nitrous = quick sleeper.

Watch out for those older Probes too, they come with a 4 cylinder turbo motor as well.

its very possible that he could have the klze(2.5l v6 jdm) engine under the hood, it looks almost exactly like the stock u.s. 2.5l v6 (kl03) hard to tell if u dont know too much about them, but it could be alot of things, better drivers than others, etc.. i also have a 89 probe turbo, quite the competitor with only a few mods.

IMO the most common loss of Hp is a boost leak. Have a test dose.

As a former Probe GT owner, (2G with turbo kit) there could be many different reasons why he kept up. If you didn't get a look at his car, you will never know for sure. Some of the reasons are already mentioned. Just make sure your GS-T is running properly, and improve your driving.

If your car is stock and you are running stock boost, a KLZE equipped Probe GT will keep up, and sometimes (driver) beat a stock GST, especially if you don't nail your launch.
