I was just wondering what the fastest spyder is, I see alot of coupes and AWD's running some serious times.I however have not seen many fast spyder times, I think the fastest I have seen is 12.7 at ??? it's a red one and was in some magazine a while back and also is on a website, but I can't find it.Is this the fastest one, I would really like to know. Thanks Corey.

Yeah the Raktron spyder is the one I was talking about, but I guess they are at 12.6@108mph not 12.7@???. I also was directing my comment towards FWD's only, not the AWD converted ones, I should have been more specific, sorry.Mistasparkles, what do you run with all those mods? I would think you are right around there but I could be wrong. Thanks for the replies Corey.

There should be a Automatic Spyder that gets close to that if not beats that time. He's in my local club. If he doesn't this season then he will next. Over the winter he's doing a complete engine build up, maybe 2.4 stroker block and a LR3 turbo.

Sweet, does anyone know the weight of a spyder? as compared to a GST coupe and/or a GSX coupe? Is it more less about the same? I have heard spyders are about 200lbs more but again this is just what I heard. So if I am correct then spyders weigh like 3200-3300lbs? thanks Corey

Last week was my first time drag racing and I found out how terrible of a driver I was. I missed 2nd gear on ALL of the three runs I was able to do. My best trap was 102.5mph but of course that was when I missed the gear. I'm going back to the strip on the 28th and try to hit all of the gears.

With your mods, and especially with the FP Green and the lsd, you should be trapping in the 115 mph range with proper tuning and no missed gears. Good luck!!!

my first time ever at a track was last saturday.. managed to pull 13.29 and 13.24 (best times).. highest mph was 112.xx.. anyway, that was with 20lbs of boost /93 octane, on some shitty street tires on 18"s, no "real" launch (due to wheel spin) and bogging big time coming out of the hole.. hopefully w/ some better tires (drag radials, if not slicks), a dual stage boost controller, better driving, and 2 more lbs. of boost, i'll be into the 12s..

p.s.~ this car was never meant to be a 1/4 mi. drag racer, but more of a highway runner.. WWD sucks ass...

Hey yeah i was there TR track night right, i saw your car, very clean car, thats what i was think when i watched you race, with some drag radials or slicks you would run easy 12's all day. But your car sounds sweet as hell, when you would ease it off the line then , then nail the gas that 50Trim sounds so mean when it spools. :thumb:

Am about to go hit the track with a few other fellow DSMers here in the valley am hoppin ill hit 13s

im like 90% sure you should be in to 13's. if you dont ill lose faith in fwd and start a search for a awd 1st gen. hell im hoping i can get a good 14.7 and ill be happy.

umm another though, is it still considered a spyder if the converti top doesnt work anymore? not that i broke mine or anything

There is a guy in our local club with a spyder that is just now getting done.

Built motor, 4" exhuast, basicly everything and powering it is a t66. I think that would or could be the fastest spyder i know of.

There are so many wicked builds up that I hear about "in the making" but never amount to anything.

There were supposed to be a few "shep competitors" about 2 years ago that everyone claimed would run 9's, yet never heard anything of them.

And yes, I know just because it isn't on the internet doesn't mean its not true, I just think owners get in over their heads often once they realize what it really takes.

Hell my buildup was only supposed to take a year, and it ended up taking 3 years. I finally have a few miles on it and it's nasty, but I got in way over my head.

Guys...I know this thread is 5 YEARS OLD...But, its here already so there is no need to make another.

I was curious to see what the FASTEST or QUICKEST 1/4 mile spyder to date is now that were 5 years later then this 12 second pass discussed in the thread here. Spyder being either FWD or AWD. I think I may take a stab at the title either this season (very little time) or next season. The last time I went to the track (2 months ago) I ran 11.6 @ 126 with about 450hp (estimate based on 417 hp dyno before a baseline for power). I recently dyno'd @ 535 hp and i'm going back in 2 weeks to exceed 600hp with a couple changes. I plan on rolling to the track if it doesnt snow between now and then. I want to know if a turbo upgrade would be necessary to do this if the competition is steap, rite now its a stab in dark since there aren't too many spyders discussed. I have seen a 42r spyder on the Link forums but no times, video, or dyno #'s.

So with that said, who holds the "title" for quickest or fastest spyder these days?

Wow, that's alot of power in the Spyder! Heavy or not, it's the most cruisable and fun DSM I bet. Unfortunately, the DSMtimes.org list doesn't list the car on the actual readout, so you can't tell what the cars are, just the names and their respective times.....bummer....

crazy since my boy is on the high 10s low 11s on a convertible gst not converted to a gsx stock block with a crazy nitrous set up.. Its not playing fair but he still did it..

No kidding.....well, there is a comments section that everyone uses to list their shop or whatever, can always list the make and model of the car there.....

Nick's reason for bumping this thread is to look for an semi-official fastest Spyder record. Have your buddy post up with a link to a timeslip or video or something, otherwise "high 10s low 11s" is a bit too vague to count since it's not even your car.
