1G Talon vs. C5 at 1/8th mile

A couple weeks ago at the 1/8th mile track, I got the chance to run a new C5. My car is not that fast (9.07 @ 76 was my fastest), but he got a poor launch, didn't know how to drive and I beat him. His son, who I later found out had a lot of racing experience, raced me again and beat me by 0.4 or 0.5 seconds with a 83 MPH trap, but I'm only showing the video where I beat the 'Vette--I don't know where that other video went . Enjoy.

Hmm.. With that trap speed and your mods, you should be running faster. Until a few days ago all I had was a K&N and a boost controller running 15psi. My 1/8th mile numbers were:

R/T: 608
60': 1.913
330': 5.840
MPH: 56.64
1/8: 9.077@74mph

I'm hoping to run low 8s next week though.

We are pretty close. I have a few things in my profile that are not currently installed on my car. The 2G exhaust manifold, DP and I didn't have my SAFC. This run was at 18 psi with stock DP and stock cat. My trap was a little higher, so either I'm a little lighter or making just a wee bit more power than you. I have not done much drag racing either, you are probably a better driver than me. My best 60 ft was a 1.92, but I was averaging closer to 2.0. Within the next couple weeks I will have my 2.5" DP installed with a 3" TP and my severely ported 2G exhaust manifold along with my 2G MAS. I hope this will put me in the 8's.

Like I said, I like this video cause it was a fluke--I don't really have the HP to be beating 'Vettes. This guys son ran me later and thoroughly stomped me. : ) But hey, that's racing.

Congrats on smoking a new vette and I must say I like your attitude. Most people would think their cars are godlike and oh so powerful if they smoked a vette one time, by a stroke of luck. You are smart enough to realize that it happened once by luck..Although, a few more mods and you'll be doing it all the time

matt, you should've been there two weeks ago, there was a new cobra (supercharged) running 8.9's and 9.0's @ 77-78mph. that would've been a fun race for you.
