Hey guys I live in Davison, Michigan and just recently bought a 1998 mitsubishi eclipse gsx automatic and I am having some issues but I was wondering if there are any DSM shops around that would be able to look at my car I am stumped along with other local shops don't have a clue. Thanks!

It idles like complete shit sometimes (not all the time) and when driving down the road sometimes when I push the gas pedal down, lets say 25%, the car will stay at like 20mph and not accelerate at all and then out of nowhere like 8 seconds later it will take off.

This is the ground wire (I think) that runs to the negative terminal on the battery. Is it normal to have random wires hanging out like that?

Could this be it?

586-209-8682, gimme a call. i got a 2g gsx auto also, i might be able to help you out.Without hearing and seeing how it runs its gonna be hard for someone to help you out unless you can be more specific. but try this for me put it in first and wot it. it should go to redline. let me know what happens and well go from there. if it goes without stuttering in first, you may have problems with the valve body. when i got mine it was running bad and that was a giant problem.

Put it in first and got it to redline okay. When the headlights are on is when it runs like crap! Plus now there is a oil leak somewhere not sure where need to figure that out!

Possible vacuum leak. Could cause you to not be getting proper air to the fuel you're getting the the engine. Is the turbo spooling properly? Considering that your idle is funky, i'm assuming air/fuel problem. Bad idle and lag on acceleration. But not much can be donewithout more info.

What's your alternator/battery health like? Is it old? Improper charging and power can lead to a few problems like you're saying, looking at that wire.

Just replaced the alternator and battery both and it still does this. I found out that this problem only occurs when the headlights are on so I am thinking it has to be electrical.

Sounds like possibly bad grounds especially seeing your negative battery cable, at least that is the rough idle with the lights on.

Hey guys this problem is still going on it really sucks because I cannot drive my car at night. Does anyone know where I could take it? The alternator and battery tested fine and the problem only exists when the headlights are on. The previous owner has a wire that is wired into the fusebox where the highbeam fuse goes to bypass it and instead of a 10a fuse its a 20a fuse in the fusebox not sure whats going on :/
